    Question For The Experts

Rabbit meat needs to be supplemented with a bit of other animal fat, as it can cause brain starvation. Or at least that is what I have been told.

    Pulling fur

I feed my herd 1/2 cup per rabbit, 1 cup per pregnant/kitted doe. Unlimited timothy grass and fresh grass twice a day. I get excellent fryers and happy rabbits all around, come winter my breeders all get 1 cup and timothy grass, while my house rabbits remain on 1/2 cup or they become plump.

    Bucks together

I have never been able to put bucks together. I have two very sweet-natured, loving bucks that attack each other every time they accidentally get let together by my daughter. I also have a neutered male that is incredibly territorial. He attempts to fight my house buck every time through the...

    Tips for 'friendlier' rabbits?

I got a doe from a breeder that never handles his stock, and with patience and plenty of dandelion greens, she is now looking for attention and pushes her nose out to be petted. And my daughter caught a young feral doe of about 6 months of age that now loves her to pieces, even though we breed...

How old do baby rabbits have to be to separate momma bunny from them

I honestly don't think you should take them from momma until the earliest late 5th week as that is when momma starts to wean them herself. I personally take them at 7 weeks.

Can rabbits mate if kept in a barn?

That said, I do notice my does are much more into my buck with the lengthening days of spring, so I suppose some small amount of seasonal shift might be helpful...our winters here are DARK. I am up at about 48° N, so we have a big day length shift at the equinoxes. Not looking forward to it...

    Greetings

I personally do not inbred and have not had to line breed as of yet. My first does (Found out that one was a buck - I got them at about 7 weeks old and was first time sexing rabbits) I didn't know they were inbred until later, and didn't know that the one I got them from had no clue about...

    Blue eyes or illusion?

They may stay hazel blue color, which I have had happen, but most likely they are blue. I have bred my Mutt breed - brown eyed breeders throw me more then one greyish and blue eyed kits.
