Staring my adventure! Could use some help though

Haven't a clue how things would work over there, but when we have trouble with mold around here we increase ventilation and sunlight. Dunno as if that would work for you or not, though. Last time I was sprouting barley it was to make beer, hadn't thought about feeding buns with it.

5 deaths in the last 3 months (rabbits fed from greengrocer)

rabbits eat really low on the food chain. More leaves and twigs than vegetables, fruits are not usually something they should be eating very much. Grasses are good for them or other high roughage low sugar sort of things. Not sure if you can get enough roughage for them at the grocer? Carrot...

    Time to sell

Might be a federal law for illegal sales of less than eight weeks? In any case, we generally sell them when they're eight weeks or older. They're a little sturdier by then and having bunnies die off after being sold would get us a bad rep if it happened. Usually the young buns will go off to...

Animal ANTIBIOTIC food-producing animals and pets will move from over-the-counter (OTC) to prescription

Anyone know if Ivermectin is on the 'gonna need a prescription' list? If it is on the list, then I'll buy a case of it now and hope it has a long shelf life. Nothing else that I know of really works as well on wool and ear mites.

No kits to show for?? Help lol

Several years ago we had Vent disease in our herd. It's basically rabbit syphilis and we had no litters for a year after repeated breedings and lots of fall offs. After five weeks of a penicillin shot once a week for the entire herd, they were cured and liters started showing up again...

    How to sell Holland Lops

You've probably already sold your available rabbits, but there's probably other folks who have some to sell. We live in such a digital world that sometimes we forget that old school still works. Have you tried putting a poster up at the local feed store and/or the local veterinary offices? Or...

    How to sell Holland Lops

Yeah, I had to start a website to sell rabbits, too, but it's kinda fun! Bought the domain from, hmm, I've forgotten. It was either 'GoDaddy' or 'NameCheap', in any case, it's not expensive. Then I learned HTML and CSS to write the website and it's hosted on HostGator. That gives me...

    Noise sensitivity

On another note, though, a friend of mine was trying to breed rabbits near her dog kennel and the rabbits wouldn't breed. They were all wire cages suspended in the air really close to barking dogs, so I can see why the poor things didn't get around to breeding. When she remembered she "didn't...

Meat rabbit housing and some other questions

I've had up to ten does in a hutch that's ten feet by three feet. Ah, sorry, just noticed the "NSW" under your name. 3.1 meters by 1 meter. The hutch is about a meter tall so there's room for boxes and ledges for them to hop on. That increases the effective floor space. These are smaller...

How Do You Get Water To Your Rabbits?

I should get some pictures on the bunny website so you can see it, but the ceramic toilet tank works great! It's one of those two piece types, so it's just the tank with the ceramic lid. Got some plumbing fittings that go from the bottom of the tank to the PVC pipe to the bunny hutches. The...

    Your Favorite Winter Activities!

Well, it actually does get cold here in the winter - sorta, anyway. We don't have a heater in the house so when it's below sixty outside, it's below sixty inside. It will get down to mid-fifties for a few nights in the winter, but, we shut the windows and wear socks, so we survive. I do think...

Help figuring out how much pellets to feed

The rabbits here are smaller English angora, but we don't measure feed, anyway. We usually go by the 'feel' method. As well as watching how hungry they act at feeding. If they feel bony, they get fed more. If they have a nice layer of flesh over their back and loins, then they've got enough...

    Breeding for the first time

It should be a done deal by now, but if you want to give them more time together it wouldn't hurt. Usually, though, unless it's really soon after the first fall off, the doe won't lift for him again. Not sure exactly how long, but usually by the next day the doe won't lift again.

    Greetings from North Central Idaho

You can also make tea from the mulberry leaves and add young mulberry leaves to people salads. We have mulberry for the bunnies as well as for the peoples here. Good looking buck, although we have very few silver fox around here so I'm not terribly familiar with the nuances of the breed. He...

    Underweight?

Try adding some grain to their diet? Hay, alfalfa and bamboo are all grasses and not overly nutritionally dense, aren't they? Dry COB (Corn, Oats & Barley without molasses added) may help increase weight gain without too much added expense? Depends on your location and feed store, though...

Where do you find good bunnysitters?

Half the herd was rehomed before we went on our last vacation, but that was for two and a half months so I wanted it to be as easy as possible for our neighbor to feed the buns. They live in hutches with automatic water and are semi-self cleaning hutches, so it was down to a minimum of having...

    Goal Setting

If there's repeat fertilizer customers, is there any way to get them to bag up the manure themselves? Fertilizer is too expensive here due to shipping, so all the bunny 'berries' we get goes pretty much all into our garden. We generally range between sixteen to forty rabbits so the amount they...

    Help! Rabbit is attacking me!!

Any bunny around here who even thinks about biting gets a solid thump on the nose. Usually it just takes once and they don't try to bite again. They don't get bred, either.
