I just finished deboning my first rabbit. It was messy, and nothing like the videos I watched. But I didn't cut myself. The end product was 2lbs. 12 oz. Of meat and 1 lb. of bone. But I didn't weigh the head, pelt or feet so I can't calculate bone to meat ratio. Now to try the canning part.

I'm married. My husband will dispatch wild rabbits and other varmits, but will not do the "Baby Bunnies". And at 8 weeks they do look pretty cute still.

I put a kit from a litter of 12 into a litter of 7 at 2 weeks old. The 7 were 4 days younger. But they were bigger. Doing fine together.

A pot belly pig is not the same as a meat pig, because there is so much fat. A nice meat pig is different. Think BACON. Sheep are pretty easy. And Goats too. We have dairy goats so that's a huge bonus. I actually trade some of my rabbits for salmon.

I got a free rex buck that had horrible sores on his hocks. He was 6 months old and was supposed to be butchered. But he was so beautiful. His fur was so soft. So I decided to try some creative healing. I trimmed his nails and painted the sores with liquid bandage. Put some smooth wood boards...

I just put my rabbits on the ground and let them explore when i clean cages. But they are in a barn. With a fenced yard attached.

I have a doe who had 12 kits. They are 2 weeks old today. One passed last night. One other is the smallest. AND my favorite. Should I pull 4 or 5 of the fat ones overnight? Or, is it too late to foster in another nest. The other doe has 7 kits that are 10 days old. All are bigger than my favorite.

My data has proven it does NOT even out. The big ones stayed larger than the rest. That's why my window to butcher is 8 to 10 weeks. The bigger ones make that 5 to 5 1/2 pounds at 8 weeks. By 10 weeks even the runts make weight. Usually.

Being an absolute beginner, I weighed my first 3 batches weekly. Checked the sexes at that time also. Someone on here posted a site that had free forms to download, with examples on how to fill them out. Brick House Acres Rabbitry. That is what I use now. Still weigh individually, but start at...

He is a wonderful guy.

I turn them loose in the rabbit barn floor. The male runs to the doe side and the doe runs to the male side. After 10 minutes or so of freedom, they meet in the middle and become friends. After a few fall offs they both go to their own side and lay under the cage.
