Okay so still has more mature feathering then the ones I have. I have separated the ones with less speckles verses the ones that look identical to the second one that I have pictured above.

So very glad to hear that he is doing well.

@dlynn how old is the one you have pictured?

    Journey into quail

Well in the first ever batch that I am working on hatching I candled at lock down and I have 5 viable eggs and 4 that never developed anything so believe them to never have been fertilized anyway. I also got my Jumbo White Wing eggs yesterday and another incubator was loaned to me to see if it...

    Marbled? Or not? Going blind…

Sounds like a really good plan that is working well for you. Cleaning it out before the meds go in is a great practice if she tolerates it. The drops will sting pretty good when it first goes in but will get easier on her as time continues. Please do keep me posted on how she is doing.

    Marbled? Or not? Going blind…

From what I can see from your pictures, it doesn't look like a cataract has formed in her eye. The eye wasn't marbled but it looks as if she has an infection or possibly a scratch that has formed a bit of an ulcer on her eye. I highly suggest that you take her to a vet in case it is an ulcer it...

    New Flemish giant owner.

Well it depends actually. Does he stay out in a hutch or is he more free roam? The temps themselves can be a little bit of an issue if he is going from one extreme to another, but if he is comfortable in the house and litterbox trained I don't really see an issue with him coming in. Though again...

    Incubating eggs

I honestly hadn't thought of using an old fish tank for the first couple weeks. Great to know as I have 2 sitting in my shed that I can use.

    Journey into quail

With my current hatch (eggs received when I got my chicks) I am using my Reptibator so I have to manually turn them. I am currently on day 7 of incubation. It has a foam insert that looks like an old mattress topper which when it comes to lockdown I will turn it over and put the eggs on top so...

Good to know that I should hold on for ~48 hours after the first one has hatched. Judging by the size of the eggs in the incubator and the size of the current chicks, I currently have Standard quail. My jumbo White Wings should be arriving in the next 2.5 weeks.

I have 7 rabbits, but I don't know what 5 of them are.

Frieda looks like I REW except she has dark eyes. I would venture to say she is probably what I would call in my Flemish as Ermine. Otherwise I agree with @RabbitsOfTheCreek on the rest.

    Journey into quail

Well I have spent the day trying to design the new cages for the quail once they get out of the "brooder" hutch. So far I have come up with a cage foot-print of 21" x 28" x 12". I have it figured out to be 4 cages to a stack and 3 stacks side by side for my breeders. I will have to reach in to...

    Journey into quail

@TamiPac Yeah they are not looking like the ones you linked. Though the White Wings I did purchase eggs for came from them. Here are some pics of one of the chicks. It was rather grumpy with me taking pics of the wings. Most of them still don't have their breast feathers so I can't sex them yet...

    Journey into quail

I went ahead and purchased some hatching eggs for some Jumbo White Wings. They should be here in 2-3 weeks. So far my little feather floofs (as I tend to call them) are doing well. They are in a huge 3' by 5.5' hutch that used to be for my Himalayan boy Tiny. I have them outside the kitchen...

    Journey into quail

Thank you all. I will keep you all updated as this journey goes on. I happen to have reptiles and dogs that could eat them too. I do happen to like the taste and as long as you get the Jumbo varieties there should be plenty of meat. Though for a good hearty meal you will still need 2-3 per...

    Journey into quail

Yeah allergies are funky for sure. Unfortunately I am literally allergic ( I stop breathing) if the meat, feathers, or eggs touch me. We found out the hard way that a brand of rolls changed their recipe and added eggs to it by me having to take a really fast ride to the ER. If it was just the...

    Journey into quail

Hello all. I am not sure if many of you know or even remember, that back in 2018 I developed a major allergy to poultry. Feathers, eggs, and i have even had reactions to their poop. The other day I found a quail breeder that wasn't to far away from me (4.5 hours round trip) who agreed to help me...

Flemish Giant Steel crossed with a (Sable?) Chinchilla

Hello all. I finally got a nice looking pedigreed buck for my FG girls. That being said I think I have finally narrowed down what type of Chinchilla they actually are, Sable Chinchilla is my best guess after looking and researching. Yes I know that Sable Chinchilla is not a recognized color for...
