10 month old sf buck extremely hard to skin?

Does remain easier to skin then bucks when older. Maybe something to do with stretching skin for pregnancies?

    Help with abandoned babies

If they didn't get colostrum from mom their chances are pretty much zero. Might be that your survivor did manage to snatch some being born first for instance, could be luck. Raising a litter from that young is a very low chance of succes gamble no matter how good your care.

I think my doe went blind

Fenbendazole is standard here too. And just a quick read up tells me it is a long haul medication wise (1-3 months and sometimes for life) and it doesn't kill the EC, it just makes it unable to continue infecting cells. I don't know about keeping such an animal, certainly if she is intended as...

Medication is for treatment, not prevention.

I think my doe went blind

Here we'd need to ask the vet for medication. Also be carefull with handling her and meat of other possibly infected rabbits. I came across a cat owner feeding raw who ended up with the cat getting this bug via a rabbitmeal. So it can cross to at least one other species.

Cage size for Argente D Brun

While my bucks are housed a little smaller then my does are, that has more to do with access to materials then anything else. A bit more room during breeding helps and staying more fit is also a plus since a buck does less "work" then the doe does raising litters. If you have a 30 x 36 for...

    Lathargic 3 month old

Water & Food. Rabbits need to eat in order to keep things moving to the exit, if she has stopped eating/drinking due to heat she won't start up on her own so easily. You may need to entice if not force her to drink and eat to keep things ticking over inside.

Options to bred to a chocolate

Pretty much the only dangerous to the rabbit choice colors wise is broken X broken, due to risk of homozygote broken (broken gene from both parents) that can result in megacolon (intestinal problem that will be the end of the bunny after a while). Other color "problems" are due to show rules...

    Baby bunnies eating momma's poop

Fortunately most of my info came from ytbers raising rabbits for meat, pet owners are mostly firmly in the adopt don't breed corner. Their breeding knowledge starts with don't breed and we think this but we don't want to so we don't really know this subject. There are times when i am tempted to...

    Baby bunnies eating momma's poop

Usually the does only feed twice per 24 hours and some even only once. That is around sunrise and sunset, so not seeing her feed but having growing kits is no worry. Once the kits get mobile enough to venture out they will try to snatch more food i.e. milk untill they get well into the food the...

    Records

I write stuff in my paper agenda that has a page per day, so room enough for the numbers i have. Although i do want to condense that data better into a form per bunny. Plenty of those can be found for free online, just needs a printer and some dedicated time to start. On the cage i have no data...

    I finally did it - Dispatch/Process

Yes. I got "lucky" with this part because the buck that was on that list broke his back, making that one a must do now situation.

    Recommendations for Tattoo Pen?

I use pliers/clamp thing with loose units for letter or number (5mm size and 4 spots for letter/number). Main thing i need to know is year of birth and doeline letter, so 3 is mostly plenty, 4th would be for a number if i keep more then one from that year and line.

    Litter size and genetics

From what i see number of kits depends on the doe, not the buck.

    Summer breeding?

I usually don't breed june/july/august, altough with mild temps now i have a litter that is 4 days old now. Normally i'd have summer kits born before the end of may. Feeding them mostly on greens makes such litters cheeper then winter ones although cold is way less a worry then heat. Next...

How do you keep track of kits

You usually don't tattoo under 8-12 weeks, and this is about growth rates in the nest, so untill 8-12 weeks old. Plus the risk of the wound in warm sometimes moist conditions like a nest. So something temporary is needed, just means you need to repeat the markings every few days. So checking...

    Why is my rabbits dying

With a check in german hospitals on non intestinal problem patients showing intestinal parasites in over 50% of them, without such checks on patients treated with dewormers for other health issues tells me pretty much nothing. Secondary issues like a parasite infestation would be fixed by a...

    Wheepy Eyes and Flinching???

Chamomile tea can be used to clean goopy eyes. Keep them clean, check for irritants (hairs in there maybe? i see loose fur?) and yes seperate and keep the flies away to prevent spread to the rest of the herd.

    Why is my rabbits dying

And since the parasites that are supposed to die from these dewormers are becoming resistant to this last/latest antihelmitic, and developing a new one takes 20 years, this kind of cure all use promotion has me worried, sad and mad. There was no new stuff developing when i bought my first horse...

    Broken hind leg at 10days

Could there be internal bleeding from the break also? Other then that, a break once set and immobilized should be not that painfull anymore, but messing with such without knowing what to do is dangerous to the break and the tissues around it. Honestly either call a vet for advice or put him down.
