    Inbreeding???

Buck you plan to breed her to will be unrelated i think? Then no, it is not an issue as such. Multiple generations of brother to sister i have heard of serious problems with though. Infertility, health issues and so on. So a once maybe oepsie, is not a real problem.

Need Advice -kits born outside the box.

Rabbits kindling and raising kits never worried me. They came from good mothers, so i just trusted them to figure it out. Yes i made mistakes and lost some kits, but that i blame on me, not the does not being able to handle a litter.

    Rabbit proof floor in colony

30 x 30 cm should keep them in if everything is lined up flush en level. But rats can fairly easily dig under and move them to get in. I had a chicken coop like that. Revamp of the coop not only made it twice as big, but also gave it a double layer of pavers, bottom layer 40 x 60 cm and 50 x 50...

Need Advice -kits born outside the box.

Fostering is easy, BUT without colostrum they won't make it. So either get that doe to feed them at least once or put them in with other newborn kits that also get colostrum from their mom.

Iodine added to water! (Health hack!)

NL pretty much has the best drinking water from the tap in the world, adding things to prevent toxicity is more likely to make it toxic instead.

    Tri or Charlie

I would keep solid, but i want to avoid the whole broken X broken problem alltogether and retired my one broken buck in favor of a solid son. Show here is not the issue either, i just don't want the health risks coming with broken and not having many breeding animals so it is easier to avoid the...

    New from KY

Cecotropes, apart from those dropped in the nestbox for kits, are eaten straight from the source. If a rabbit doesn't do that it is either to fat to reach or ill.

    Sharpie in the "wrong" ear

If you want to remove a tattoo, i'd contact a tattoo parlor for humans, some also do laser removal for instance on gang tattoos. However if they are willing to help you with an animal for this and if it is legal and possible given the tissue of the ear to do so, i don't know.

Welcome. Note : grandparenting wise, putting pet bunnies in the pot will cause big problems with the grandchildren. Be sure they know and accept the difference between your breeding rabbits they can love, give names and expect to be there each visit and the ones for the pot.

    New from KY

Butchering age i hear is usually around 12 weeks and up to even 16, not 9. Now mine won't make 10lbs period, but i am happy if they make a generous 2.2lbs i.e. 1 kg liveweight by 12 weeks (adults are about 1750+ grams). Meaning about 500grams in the freezer (bones included). Untill 12 weeks...

where would you add a new breeding pair

I run a basic spiral mating system as well, although mostly i keep using outside bucks still (want some more colors for one). So an extra breeding pair would just be a new bloodline in that system. This chart would just confuse me to much to use it properly, but i suspect i have more animals to...

Okay i just had the thought would this cross be good?

Both are build for more meat production, so not likely. Also focus not on meat production, but on healthy animals that are good mothers and able to raise the whole litter they give. Production as a breed goal costs you in health, feed and other extra needed care. The same problems are evident in...

Okay i just had the thought would this cross be good?

All rabbit breeds are fine to eat, mostly it is anchoring traits, selling kits, love for the breed and shows that keep most breeders from crossing breeds. I wouldn't breed a (big) buck to a (much) small(er) doe, but otherwise there is no welfare/health reason not to cross breeds.

Is there such a thing as 12 gauge cage wire?

I plan to make some cages with plastic slatted panels, but that may take a few months yet. Part of the problem is i need trays under them and finding fitting combo's is a pain.

    6 kits. A zillion questions

While i do see some all of dads broken kits are also bucks in some combo's it depends on the combo. Others may have both sexes in either color. And the 50/50 chance thing is per kit, i had a litter broken X castor resulting in all broken kits, while all other litters from that buck where close...

    pen vs clamp tattoo

Seeing how misinterpretation can create a blue plate special for predators from a free range starting point along with a biohazard (homestead rescue early episode season 1 ep 2 i think) I understand a : "give a base as given rather then let people think that doing it all yourself is easy"...

    Meat Rabbit Diet

No, garvo 5065 (dutch brand breed and show pellet). 16.5?% protein and 3.5% fat They get about 15-20 grams/rabbit/day of that. Rest is haypellet (pavo fibrenuggets, officially for horses and 10%), graspellet with 16% and litters some alfalfa pellet at 17%. Along with that greens like hazel...

    pen vs clamp tattoo

I use a clamp style, but part of that is combo acces to what tools (clamp + enough letters, number and such is costly) and simple do once and done system. Before i bought it i decided what system i wanted letters and numbers wise. Mine pretty much simplifies down to 1 letter for season, 1 letter...

    Netherland Dwarf - Neutering Question

If you want a lap companion to pet while watching TV, get a cat. It is not something rabbits are good at, also because a herbivore even if it is a pseudoruminant needs to spend way more time eating (i.e. being in a sense busy) then a carnivore like a cat does.

Hi coming from UT. Does anyone know about the meat processing laws for Ut?

Being neighbourly is not something you advertise. Advertising is for commercial acivity with farther reach and therefore more rules. So i doubt that you'd get away with "hiding" under such regulations. You'd be more reliant on word of mouth and home delivery, where you are paid for the live...
