    Not laying eggs?

so to make sure I understand your question hen 1 is NOT producing and is getting fat? hen 2 is laying eggs? if so, just like with rabbits. too much fat creates issues. Rabbits produce less kits. Hens won't lay eggs. So put hen 1 on a diet and increase her amount of exercise.

So i've been breeding tricolour holland lops like forever. :) Love the colour and just the fun of them. Normally if I breed tri to tri I get a litter of tri. but this spring I've had dark harlequins popping up in my tri to tri breedings and I'm finding it very curious. Out of a buck who...

    I need help

allow me to clarify why in this situation I say wean at four weeks. I don't normally wean this early, but I have found that with sick does and currently healthy kits that four weeks is a good marker week. At four weeks kits still retain some immunity through nursing, the older they get the...

    I need help

remove the kits when they are four weeks old, away from the rest of the herd, in a sanitized cage. Any that throw snot DO NOT SELL and I would hard cull. If you have any that don't throw snot (even as a mild respiratory thing) keep those as breeders. Find ways to stress them Snuffles...

    A sudden loss

if all your rabbits are housed in the same building, with the same air flow and care I would NOT disinfect basically clean cages between residents. They should be able to handle a basic cage change. if they can't, I would wonder what is not quite right with that given rabbit. MIND this is...

Can a pet rabbit live in a wire cage?

why are you concerned about a rabbit rescue not liking your wire cage? Are you looking to purchase a rescue? Going to have someone from a rescue over for tea? If so and you do end up with a wire cage its easy enough to "make them happy" by covering the wire with cardboard, carpet, those...

    Chaos

Does are as individual as people are. Some does mature early (as early as two months) others can wait up til a year. Does that mature slower test your patience. Things to do with scared young does. 1. put them near a buck or between two buck cages. 2. switch cages with a buck for at least...

Hi, I am Julia from the UK, I am happy to have found Rabbit Talk.

it is important to actually SEE the kits. reasons follow 1. to know how many you have in case one goes missing... you know to look! 2. to know if any dead kits or placentas are left in the box 3. to make sure they are being fed 4. awareness if they are warm and dry

    Hay question

I rarely feed hay now, I used to and built feeders as it helped reduce waste. But it's still a major waste and I don't see it needful to spend money on wasted feed. just seems wasteful all around. But feeders I used were the simple metal cutlery containers you can buy at the dollarstore. I...
