Can anyone tell me what’s wrong with my buck?

Would stress grooming apply to rabbits? I've seen this on my chinchillas ( not rabbit chinchilla, but chinchilla species) it looked very similar and it was a caused by the stress of loneliness.

    Ivermectin question.

<envy> the place I got mine from doesn't have flavors. I bet it's much easier to give if they're willing to taste it

    Ivermectin question.

Answers: rabbits have only ever bit me when in pain. I smear the paste on their lips; they don't like it, they squirm away, but once it's on they'll lick it up just to groom it off their face. Depending on what you're treating for, you dose again when the eggs will hatch; ie for fur mites...

Produce own hay to boost protein

Careful to keep the ratio of alfalfa and clover down, they're great in low ratio, but they can get too much calcium from alfalfa, and too much clover will give them gas. The more variety you plant, the better

Has anyone ever tried to make their own hay cubes?

There were no bales available last fall ( stupid drought 😒) I used Timothy hay cubes all winter. They are much cleaner than long strands of hay, especially with the baby Angoras. The trouble I had originally was the Wire bottom cage; as soon as a cube was bunny poop sized it'd fall on the...

    Ivermectin question.

That much??? I've been giving just the tiniest of smears, trying to go by weight. It still works, I was afraid of giving too much...

    URGENT need for advice

She's passed. I did find out through necropsy that she had food in her trachea and a broken arm. It's possible that she choked on the food then was trampled by her sisters. Sad as that is, it's a relief that it wasn't an illness passed from the kits

    URGENT need for advice

They get hay out of our hay field, and water from the rain barrels. After the diarrhea yesterday, I'd emptied all the water bowls and replaced with microfiltered tap water - just in case it might be contaminated. I'm worried about the rest of the does this one was kept with; should I pull out...

    URGENT need for advice

Yesterday, we lost 4 kits to diarrhea, the doe had diarrhea as well. Today we have a 4 month old, who is limp, responsive in a flailing blinking kind of way but her Jaw won't move and though her tongue moves she won't swallow water even if I syringe into her mouth. She had a bunch of stuff...

    Isn't this genetically impossible?

Chimerism is very rare, isn't it? There's got to be a different rationale. For the steel gene, it isn't improbable for the black guy to have it- the orange is his half sister, and she has consistent gold tips on her orange fur (but isn't tipped on the black or gray)

    Isn't this genetically impossible?

What's meant by washed out? Is this a common occurrence? On the second guy, yes the fur is consistently tipped inside the splotch, consistently not tipped the rest of the face.

    Isn't this genetically impossible?

Isn't a rabbit supposed to be either dilute or not dilute? How does she have left face black and right face gray? Is there something I am missing about fur color? Same thing with second rabbit, Isn't he supposed to be steel all over rather than in a splotch here and there?

    I need recipe names

I think I'll save that one especially for a scatterbrained doe :)

    I need recipe names

When we first bought our farm, our children were preteens. We got chickens but we constantly reminded our kids that they were food. How? We named them food items: chicken strip, tandoori chicken, etc. This naming system took off, and we now name every farm animal after what they produce on...

    Fur to thick?

I have French and satin angora, and I suggest you stop using scissors and take out the furminator! ( find an old dull one so that it doesn't cut, just pulls) Trimming the fur with scissors, I found that it got really thick: Just like you described, I could part the hair to the skin-- it wasn't...

    Is this a steel?

He's almost ready to shed, but if you're used to looking at angora fur, you can clearly see the bands I was talking about.

French/satin Angora breeder with meat NZ/California mixes

Hi, I am breeding REW Nz and California mix meat rabbits for meat, looking forward to finding good recipes. We also have French and Satin Angoras for fiber, we are hoping to breed out the French

    Is this a steel?

I'm trying to figure out what color this little guy is... are these scattered white guard hairs considered steel? Following is a pic of mum, we originally thought she was a self but maybe she's double steel? He also is very clearly banded, black tip, gray middle, white root... clear...
