    Tamuk Rabbit Standard?

Buying younger stock might work out well, since you'll be able to work with them and get them accustomed to your routine and handling expectations. I do believe there are nasty-tempered rabbits out there- I've owned some! But for the most part what I've seen is that scared rabbits - scared...

    Champaign D'argent

I've had Champagne D'Argents for a few years and have found them to be very good meat rabbits, though not any better than Satins, Californians, or New Zealands. I have bred high-quality stock in all four breeds, and in my experience, none of them had remarkably better yield or meat-to-bone...

    1st liter!

Congratulations!!! 😁 That should do the trick; I just wouldn't change anything at this point. Once she's weaned the litter, you might think about limiting her pellets to what she'll eat in 24hrs, and backing off or even entirely eliminating the BOSS, oats, and calf manna, though, as that diet...

    Ear mite healing concerns

The following paper indicates that the ivermectin cattle pour-on is effective, although it used a subQ injection route, which may or may not be possible for you: Use of ivermectin for treatment of ear mite infestation in rabbits S K Curtis , R Housley, D L Brooks...

What's in your rabbit first aid kit?

In my stash I have small sharp scissors, scalpel, nail clippers, syringes from 1mL to 5mL, digital thermometer, mineral oil, Benebac, Critical Care for herbivores powder, Nutri-drops for Rabbits, neomycin oral, Corid, Safeguard, ivermectin. In the freezer I keep frozen goat colostrum, and...

    Harli/tri genetics

I agree with @RabbitsOfTheCreek that at least 6 weeks is a good idea; in fact I generally wait till 8 weeks. Even if the doe is not feeding them anymore, 4 weeks is pretty young to make big changes, and I'd be a little wary of prompting a bout of weaning enteritis.

    Ear mite healing concerns

It does sound like the treatment may have been part of the problem. I'd be interested in hearing what you used, or at least a list of the ingredients in the preparation. In any case, I'd go with simple oil (tip: warm it in your hand before you drop it in). Olive oil would be my first choice...

    Ear mite healing concerns

That looks like a relatively major infestation, and its being inflamed and crusty like that would make me suspect it was not mite-free or actually healing. If she came that way, she could be very unhappy about being handled simply because her ears are hurting and she doesn't want them touched...

    Head Tilt

Looking at my notes from way back, we treated a Mini Rex doe suffering from wry neck+eye infection w/fenbendazole daily for 16 days, then .3ml Ivermax 2x at 7-day interval. She was in pretty tough shape, but it was resolved well enough that a year later this was Moonlight with a healthy litter...

    Head Tilt

It might have been a good idea to get her on Safeguard (fenbendazole) right away, but you could still try. If she's lasted this long, there might still be a chance to pull her out of it.

Is this enough color on this broken?

That looks like plenty of color to me, though it is entirely up to the discretion of the particular judge. Some years ago I had a Satin junior buck that had less color than yours (smaller side markings and no spine marking at all) and he won at least 2 GC legs before he left for another barn...

Just a neat thing I found out

That's really interesting. Most of my Satins I've looked at have eight, but some have ten. I haven't counted on the Polish or Holland Lops, but you can bet I will now. 😁

    Kit Colors

Seeing that frosty-tipped appearance on 2 & 3, it looks to me like you're dealing with sable aka the shaded allele <c(chl)>, especially if the dam is a sable point. If she's a sable point marten, she'll have white inner ear linings, white jowl markings, and a white belly and undertail. Sables...

    Inbreeding question

That's often called linebreeding, which is a form of inbreeding, and it is used by many breeders to increase the prevalence of desirable traits in their herd. If your buck has outstanding qualities you want to reproduce in your rabbits, breeding his female offspring back to him is the quickest...

A warning to others so you don't make my mistake

Sorry, maybe my writing was a little misleading. Here the rabbits definitely must be clean, all over, especially for any hope of winning one of the top prizes. Slight staining on the underside of the feet might pass, but dirty will not. But I don't think I've ever seen a white rabbit with...

A warning to others so you don't make my mistake

What a bummer. It's certainly a disappointment, but don't feel like a dunce. It sounds like maybe there was something missing in the instructions you got from the other folks. And you're right, showing rabbits is a lot different from showing large stock. I started showing livestock in the...

New rabbits... size and when to breed

6 lbs at 16wks is okay, 5lbs is on the light side. And I agree with @olhippityhop that 4lb at 13 wks is a bit light for a NZ; typical NZ butcher weights are 4.5 - 5.5lbs at 8-10wks. The 7mo NZ buck, at 7lbs, is very lightweight; by that time he should be nearing senior weight, which for a NZ...

    Tail biting

I'd check her for fleas/mites/lice before medicating. If she has any of those, you'll be able to see them and/or their traces. But I would not use medications if you don't find evidence of these parasites. Using medication when it's not called for can cause problems like unwanted side effects...

    Injured/Sick Rabbit(s) - Needing Input

The buck's weights seems okay, but since it looks like his eye might be involved - another symptom of E. cuniculi - I'd start the buck on Safeguard (fenbendazole) paste, a very small pea-sized blob in his mouth. Rabbits often like it, as it's apple-flavored. But if he resists, you can just...
