    Red urine

The best you can do is keep her happy and comfortable. She is not a young bunny. Lots of hydration, lots of green leafy vegetables and lots of good quality hay. It's often the only thing you can do.

    Rex and Angora fur question

Ferra has it absolutely right. The face fur in an angora is the color we use to describe their color. That same pigment color is spread out through the hair shaft in the wool, and typically the guard hair is darker in color than the undercoat because of the construction of that hair like part of...

    Red urine

Red urine tends to reflect a change in her diet. I believe food coloring and additives will do it especially. Actual bloody pee is rare, although not impossible. If it is blood in her urine it would denote a maldy you probably can't fix; Polyps, an aborted litter, and uterine cancer.

    Happy Birthday!!

    Holland Lop litter!

I don't think its about scent. Shes just a vigilant mom and wants to keep the nest perfect and the kits covered. Only thing to really worry is that she doesnt accidentally get them too warm. They need it nice and warm, but depending on your climate and where you house, you may want to bring the...

Building a "canning Kitchen" in the dungeon.

That is absolutely amazing. If all my dreams come true, maybe I can have something like that someday!!

I'd be interested in a # of run 2. And let me see about Run 1. Send me payment info when you have a chance.

    Holland Lop litter!

Stimulating bowels would really only be necessary if you were bottle feeding. Mommas do all that for you. I've seen a few births, only because I check on pregnant mommas every hour or so on their due date. Since I mostly shelve my babies I'm always there for feedings. The more involved you can...

    Any other crocheters on here?

I used to crochet a lot, but then a friend helped me to hone my skills at knitting so I've been working that more. Not that I've finished anything. I've got half of a glove, One sock, and a half a scarf. LOL!

    Housing rabbits, portable garage

I've used a portable carport with good results as well. I had to cut a panel out of the back though and duct taped the hole to allow for more ventilation. Lots of fans too, but my climate is rough that way. Although we did have a few cooler nights and snow one day, my plants all survived. The...

    Bunny swatches

I love it. I was just trying to push myself to try to paint up an angora. You are a welcome outside push.

Mixing furs for spinning, or selling directly as fiber?

I have to disagree about the no crimp. In fact one of the judging characteristics for shows is crimp of the wool. English angora fiber has the least crimp, but French has a good deal of crimp. Crimp deals with how the fiber spins together. Lots of crimp holds the singles together so a much...

    what breed is my bunny?

Agreed, he has some muddy harlequin colors, which could come from any number of breeds. I dont see anything that would make me think he is Lionhead, or any one breed in particular. But he is beautiful!

    Blood from ******

It sounds like she came through it ok, and I'm glad for you and her that she did. The stretched out one marks that she did indeed have one stuck, and its tough for the ones behind in the birth canal. 3 sounds pretty typical for an ND. Is it possible she is a false dwarf? Sometimes their kits are...

    Need advice again

Its possible, but I find in the heat they tend to break into smaller groups to more easily regulate their body temp. I always try to put them back together too, worrying that some may be missed during a feeding. But, they almost always are split the next time I go out there.

Just lost my favorite doe. Any ideas why?

With the heat, my first guess would be that her body temperature got to a point that she had a seizure, one you may never have even noticed. That damaged her brain (hence the circles and glassy eyes), and there was just nothing you could have done at that point. I'm so very sorry you lost her...

    Orphaned baby emergency!!!

A brown and a black could produce a white. If you can find out which doe it is, you can flip her over onto her back and let the kit nurse, but honestly many does are too upset to do this and release their milk. It is possible that they dont know what they're doing. Absolutely, and on a first...

    Orphaned baby emergency!!!

Double check three times to make sure you got all the kits. You may find another or two. A singleton is going to be even more difficult to hand rear versus 3 or 4. Keeping the body heat is just so difficult. Kitten milk, goat milk, these can be replacements, but not having them aspirate the...

    Changing Feed Stores

I agree. I love my current feed store. I went through three of them before I settled on this one. I think some of it is that rural America is shrinking. Fewer and fewer people buy feed, and especially milled feed and not something made by a big company in St. Louis. The feed I buy I wish was...
