Picking a Breed and Seller for Starting Out (Pics)

When i look up the breed history they were dual purpose for exhibition and meat but now just a show breed. They tend to be fine boned and medium sized 6-9 lbs with meaty thighs but might take longer to grow so idk. If anyone knows pls comment. *Edit ok i found an old thread on rabbit talk that...

Picking a Breed and Seller for Starting Out (Pics)

This may be barking up the wrong tree again like with the old english spot. But what about this guy's Belgian Hare doe he's selling for $20? She's so pretty! I do have solid floor hutches and cages, so sore hocks would not be as big a worry. The question more is, feed effeciency/grow out...

    Goal Setting

We have a decently long growing season where I live. We have roses blooming in November, and the grass starts to grow halfway through February...although February is when we also get most of our snow and ice. :( I think hay is hard to find here because there just aren't enough farmers. Lots of...

It sounds like a lot of work collecting all the bagged poo. I dont have that kind of free time right now so in the garden it shall go. Lol. Biggest problem is my two occupied cages have flat tray bottoms. But! my doe is now using the litterbox (mostly). That should help a bit. Once I get my baby...

That's an incredible amount of poo! Do you sell it poo only or mixed with the soiled straw/hay/bedding materials?

The maple tree out back is not the ornamental type of maple. It's the large type maple that grows wild through Virginia. But I think it can be toxic to horses if the leaves are wilted or dried so I suppose I'd better avoid for bunnies too. Thanks for the warning! That's exactly the type of...

    Hello From Virginia USA

Wow, 79...that's a lot of bunnies at once. O__O I hope it goes well for you with showing. I think the closest shows around here are Christiansburg/Blacksburg somewhere near VATech. So maybe someday I'll see you there if my son tries to show. He is still a tad bit young. But I can see him doing...

    Hello From Virginia USA

How yall fellow Virginians doing this week? Ready for more cold and icky rain? XD I looked up where Big Stone Gap was in case I ever wanted to buy some rex from you. But man, you are out there! Meeting in Hillsville would likely be the easiest if we ever did. lol. But not right now. My kids...

Picking a Breed and Seller for Starting Out (Pics)

It's definitely encouraging to hear that members here are still enjoying themselves a while after starting up their new venture. These two I got seem to be settling in nicely now. The doe is still not friendly, but has chilled out so my 4 yr old son can sit with her in his lap on the sofa and...

    Want to start breeding giants

Infinity Acres in Martinsville is selling giant continentals. They are a nonprofit petting ranch. Maybe too far a drive for you tho. I think Laura Steere said shipping can be arranged for people who need it. Martinsville is in Virginia, 1 hour north of Greensboro, NC. Charlotte is 5 hours away.

    Happy New Year from Virginia!

They ate a mix of poison and cracked corn we hid under the woodpile but we shall try this too as i can hear more rats scurrying around today and they dug another new tunnel after we plugged the old ones. I took poop and kitty litter from the cat box and dumped it in the tunnel too.

    Happy New Year from Virginia!

OMG. lol. I don't think I can hit a rat with a bat they are too fast! Aah. My ducks and chickens pour feed everywhere and stomp it into the mud. Plus rats eat chicken poop. But we are trying. -.-

    Happy New Year from Virginia!

Hello! What part of Carolina are you in? I like these ducks a lot. We got our first eggs today. They were delicious. :3 @ladysown Unfortunately, we have wolf rats in our tractor shed and wood pile that we have been waging war against since we moved here. We have tried poison and all sorts of...

That's some crazy weather up where you live! Wow. I feel better about my situation for sure. I'm really sorry about the fire that destroyed your animals. Poor things! That must have been so heartbreaking. Did you build a new barn after that? Ok. I didn't realize that was so stressful to move...

So he's not panting inside any more. Maybe that first day he was overstimulated by moving into a new home? I think you're right that he was an indoor bunny. Unfortunately my heating pad has a built in safety feature where it shuts off after 30 minutes. All of those are neat ideas though. You...
