Caution on the alfalfa it’s not actually hay it’s a legume. Feed a Timothy or orchard grass Alfalfa mix, 80% Timothy and 20 % alfalfa. Find someone that sell small square bales of horse hay as horse have the same digestive system as horses.

Line breeding will preserve the traits you want. Out cropping you never know what unwanted traits you may get. Rabbit breeds are all closely related already anyway.

I have been feeding yellow field peas to my rabbits for years have never had an issue. Also they are high in protein. I sprout the peas and they love them. So sometimes Mr Internet not the best source. People that have never raised anything or post their opinion is common.

Exactly the reason I feed organic field peas, whole oats, horse hay (Timothy 80%Alfalfa 20%) and sunflower seeds in the winter. I also give a variety of tree branches and grass/weeds and some garden goodies.
