How are you keeping your rabbits cool this really hot "summer" so far?

We just finished a fairly simple DIY evaporative cooling apparatus. There is a bucket with a water supply and a small pump in it along with a float that stops the water to a certain fill line. The water is pumped up to a PVC pipe across the top that has holes drilled in it. It then runs down...

Jerusalem Artichoke (Helianthus Tuberosus L.) uses/values- Report by University Extensions

Believe me, where I live, I need stuff that is tough. Thanks for the watering tip. I don't care about eating the tubers, I want the greens to feed my rabbits.

So if your loppers are not sharp as they should be, this still works to break the neck most efficiently. I needed to cull a couple of young ones, I wasn't real happy about it and this was so much better. Thank you.

Separating Rabbit 🐰 Fur from Hay?🌿🌿🌿???

If it is all clean, save it with the hay. It'll stay in the box a lot easier mixed in with the hay.

    Rabbits or not

So we thought we didn't like goat milk. I have a mid size Jersey heifer who will be back to her home farm in a month or so to be bred. Then one of my rabbit friends here gave me a quart of her Nigerian dwarf goat milk. IT WAS SO GOOD. Kicking myself because I won't even admit what I paid for...

    Newbie question

I'm going to tell you my experience - bringing home bred does works about half the time. So if these pregnancies don't pan out, don't fret. Probably won't be anything you did or didn't do. I think it is a gamble (worth taking) because it typically takes does a week or three to feel safe in their...

I just planted Comfrey in the big fabric bags. If necessary, I will transfer the sunchokes to some as well.

Jerusalem Artichoke (Helianthus Tuberosus L.) uses/values- Report by University Extensions

So funny, I just found permies.com. And yes, where they are growing is largely loose organic matter rather than the native soil. Appreciate your help!!

Jerusalem Artichoke (Helianthus Tuberosus L.) uses/values- Report by University Extensions

I am in the high desert (3500 ft) of Odessa/Midland. The zone is 8 or 8a depending on where you look, we must be on a line. However, I am excited to report that my second planting of 3 different kinds worked!!! I have sprouts and little plants. My soil is mostly clay where it isn't outright...

How are you keeping your rabbits cool this really hot "summer" so far?

More and more I think the green stuff helps with heat. We just decided on example of someone else to leave off pellets in the AM and just do the forage then and feed the pellets in the PM. I used to live in Seaford DE BTW.

How much do you pay for feed? --per mods: NO POLITICS IN THIS THREAD.

Manna Pro at TSC this week in Odessa TX. Last year it was $19.49. We have no regional mill and the closest one (4 hrs), the food sucks. I know because I tried it and even my pigs didn't like the pig feed. I have ordered in from LA but do I want to find out the freight now? No, I do not. That is...

    best meat rabbit breed

I have one pair of Rex along with my Tamuk. I do have to help them a little more during the really hot days. And yes, they need those mats to help their feet. But my Rex doe pops 9-10 kits each litter and feeds them very well. We are about to process our first batch but I see not issue with the...
