    Ivermectin and Ear mites

The first time I had an ear mite incident, I used garlic infused olive oil. It worked but the rabbit really didn't like it. It takes longer (I've learned since) because any kind of oil is working by smothering the mites. Ivermectin, however applied, gets into the system and kills them. You...

    Is Magnolia safe for rabbits?

I haven't ever baked the branches. I have given willow, mulberry, rose and plum. The likelihood is that the maple is okay as well. I have seen both red and silver on safe lists.

    Is Magnolia safe for rabbits?

The maple should be safe - do you know what kind of maple? Here is a thread on Lilac: Is Lilac safe for rabbits to eat (google isn't helping me !) Crabapple is safe but it appears rabbits are divided on it as to how much they like it. Though I keep trying - like toddlers, their taste often...

To scruff or not to scruff?

So over the past two years, I have read a lot about scruffing. It is my current opinion (held lightly) that we aren't always refering to exactly the same thing. When someone says "scruff," I am thinking of how a puppy is scruffed (which they can be because their moms can do that) - it is right...

    New member

It worked well for me. Now hubby is using a bone cutter (kind of like a paper cutter but metal) where he bops them and immediately cuts off the head. He said it made processing easier for him and it must have as he got down to under 10 minutes per rabbits.

    Rabbit Forage wiki

Okay, so I have a little structure plugged in where you begin to see how it can work. If you go to the link below, then click on the green Tree Hay link (everything else is red because there is no page there yet). On the Tree Hay page, you will see Hackberry in green and that page is made up of...

    Rabbit Forage wiki

I am setting up a wiki for rabbit forage (will be RabbitForage.com). I have some folks participating from FB and I wanted to ask here as well. It started off as me trying to develop a beginner course on rabbit forage and that may yet happen. But it really needs a wiki to organize all the...

    Hard time selling rabbits

Another Tamuk breeder I know near an urban area sells a lot of young dispatched kits for reptile food. I'm sorry I can't remember what she gets for them but it is an active and consistent market if you are near enough folks.

    Hard time selling rabbits

There is a Tamuk breeder in the Austin area that got rabbits solely for the manure because he sells tomatoes (by the bushels) to local farmers' markets. Incidentally, he got very into breeding larger animals and intensifying colors and now he has waiting lists for his growouts from other...

    Any Suggestions For My Logo?

Well that is fantastic! It just goes to show that everyone may have a different experience. Tamuks definitely can make good pets. We have one in the house right now - a doe that get a bit chonky on me and I hope will run off some weight.

    Any Suggestions For My Logo?

Hey, my 2 cents FWIW, you have probably thought this through. I have been raising Tamuk for going on 2 years. I did make 3 pet sales right at first. One went well, the other two were more trouble than it was worth. It is a completely different market. I wouldn't refuse to sell one for a pet but...

How much do you pay for feed? --per mods: NO POLITICS IN THIS THREAD.

I honestly don't know. But I can tell you that $16 is GREAT and if it works, fantastic! https://www.mannapro.com/small-animal/feed/select-series-pro-formula-rabbit-food

How much do you pay for feed? --per mods: NO POLITICS IN THIS THREAD.

That is odd - We don't have a mill close by but the prices are usually better. Maybe not at a mill that doesn't normally do rabbit feed? I ordered feed in from a mill in Louisiana (Petrus), paid freight, and it was still cheaper. Now that was last fall, I wouldn't attempt it now with diesel prices.

How are you keeping your rabbits cool this really hot "summer" so far?

I think it is important for any breed that buyers are planning to use a similar setup as what you are using. It is something I discuss with those buying my Tamuk breeders. They are heat tolerant not heat impervious. That are still rabbits. And sometimes even with the best of intentions, setups...
