    Journey into quail

That's good to know. I didn't know that. Guess I have to learn how to incubate finally. Or teach my chicken hens to raise them. Wouldn't that be a sight 😂

    Doe not receptive

I was actually looking at other breeds that have better temperament last night after this post. I think a huge part of my frustration is a previous purchase of another type of livestock that was touted to be so great and after huge expenses and travel to a well known breeder (who's lost their...

Thank you. I'll give her a pass for now. Good observation to determine pregnancy I guess. I was thinking maybe it's something with me causing these issues. Didn't either remember or didn't have those issues in whatever crossbred breeds I had back in the day. This doe is the one I was hoping to...

Thanks. Good to know. She's coming on a week bred so I was surprised so soon. This will be her first litter though.

Looking for some support/advice again. The doe that got bred successfully on the 16th and 17th has decided she wants me no where near her or her cage as of tonight. She usually greets me for her food. Allows some pets. Tonight at feeding she's making grumpy rabbit noises at me when I got her...

    Journey into quail

So y'all don't let the quail raise their own babies? I've not done incubation to date. I let broody hens do that for me.

I will surely be looking into this. That sounds exactly like what we are wanting.

    Journey into quail

Thanks! That's great to hear. I bought some American breese off CL a while back and it was an awful decision so I am leery now. So many crooks in our area. I will keep an eye out though. Need to get a pen set up too. Haven't seen any recently on CL but do keep an eye out.

Todays update: Hopefully yesterdays breeding/fall offs was enough. She's back to being as small a ball of rabbit as possible. Talked to the buck a little but not receptive to breeding.

    Journey into quail

Thanks for posting this. Glad it's working out. Really glad no ER visit. Quail is on my list of things to give a go. I don't know of anyone local currently but do keep an eye out. While we will eat some of the eggs and meat I would mostly be raising them for our pets as part of their diet...

I would love to learn more about colonies. We have so many wild cotton tails around our ranch that I worry about diseases transmission. Interesting you had that experience but it does make sense. That's kind of a sad story for her but I am glad she worked out. Can't imagine watching a rabbit...

She's 7 1/2- 8 month old now I believe. There is color and all looks good. She acts scared. She's not a very friendly rabbit. I moved her to a pen next to him this afternoon so she can get used to his scent. I'll give that a try. Thanks!

    Doe not receptive

Hello all! I have a Tamuk doe who is absolutely not receptive to a buck. Her barn name is Witchy. I'm just trying to get a few litters out of her to pay for her purchase cost then she will be culled. I do not like her attitude at all. She's been with two bucks now and just huddles in the corner...

    Protective spray for trays

Wow! I'll check out TS. I don't usually shop there so didn't know they had options like that. Going to look on their website. Thanks everyone for the information. I'd love to get away from these flimsy trays that rust. I wanted to use pelleted bedding but I use it in my garden and the one...

    Protective spray for trays

All sound like possible options. These trays are well used but are cleaned regularly. They are in good shape and I'd like to keep them that way. Can't imagine what shipping costs on trays like that.

I didn't know plastic trays were available. Will look into those.

    Protective spray for trays

Hey all! For those who use trays under their cages is there anything that can be sprayed on them to keep them from rusting away? Since the rabbits don't have access to them I'd think some sort of rustolium paint or something would work? I have shavings in the trays and they still get "standing"...

new here and raise nigerian dwarf goats

Welcome to Rabbit talk! Great group of folks here. I have some Nige's that were left behind from a family member. At that point we were all out of goats (by choice). They are just hay burners till they die here I guess. Haven't found them a good home yet. Been 5 years now. 🤦‍♀️ What kind of...
