    feeding does

thanks! The guy who got me into raising rabbits for meat recommends and uses this aggressive breeding schedule. He did say it is harder on the does and you have to replace them more frequently but it maximizes output efficiency. I am just learning. I may not actually use that schedule. I...

    feeding does

Hello everyone, I am a newbie. I have 3 does and 1 buck. Right now I have 3 litters. They are about 4 weeks, 2.5 weeks and almost 1 week old. They all had litters of 7-9 kits. So far, only 1 was lost. All others are doing very well. I am holding off on rebreeding so I can get all 3 does...

another question... (Doe agressive to kit)

thanks for the earlier replies. Yeah, momma did great. After some intial grunting, it was very gratifying to see her later nuzzling the little one and then grooming him/her. When I put the little one back in the nestbox, I swear she seemed to peek in on him/her a few times before settling...

    nestbox cleaning

Aha! Thanks for this. Momma was mad when I was trying to clean up some of her poop off the cage wire the other day and I was not sure why.

    nestbox cleaning

today I noticed that the older kits (around the 17 day old age) were chomping down on the hay in the nestbox. So that settled it for me. I cleaned out all the old hay and stuffed it with fresh hay. The little poppers were quite excited when I put them back, bouncing all around and chomping down...

another question... (Doe agressive to kit)

They are all new to me but I believe she is a first timer. I was told they were around a year old and had not been bred yet. She could get on the top of the nestbox if she thinks to do it. She is in a 30 x 30 cage so there is some room in there. She was acting like the little one had...

another question... (Doe agressive to kit)

ok, new guy again with question 2.... I got a bunch of 16 days olds..all 8 have survived and are doing well. I happened to be there today when the most precocious one jumped out of the nestbox. Maybe hungry since he immediately tried to nurse. Momma was NOT happy. Started by jumping away but...

    nestbox cleaning

Hello everyone....new guy here. I tried to search but did not find this. Regarding the nestbox, is it necessary to clean them out before they are weaned? I notice that it is sometimes damp in there. With it being cold now, I was concerned. I did find one of the kits that did not make it and...
