help! crusty nose, 11 days old

The eyes are unaffected, I just was thinking maybe it's the same mechanism as nest box eye? I switched nest boxes. The one they were born in was very wet way at the bottom. I checked them out thoroughly, all very fat and clean except the noses. Momma is a super over achiever and nurses them...

help! crusty nose, 11 days old

Several meat mutt kits have crusty noses! 11 days old, fat, wiggly, starting to open eyes. Possibly related to nest box eye? I'm cleaning nest box this afternoon just in case. Mom is healthy, no concerns whatsoever. Ever seen this before? Should I worry?

    Does vent change when pregnant?

ELEVEN BABIES!!! She seems to be doing a great job so far, scarfed down her food and is just calm as can be. She's a first timer so we shall see how it all goes - I have no foster since I didn't plan this breeding, so I'll just keep my fingers crossed. Got one of my NZWs to breed today too so...

    Does vent change when pregnant?

Well this doe is definitely keeping me guessing. She is absolutely 100000% pregnant, I can see and feel babies kicking around. Today, she is not eating much or drinking, and she is breathing fast, so maybe she is getting ready to kindle. My other rabbits show no signs when they are ready to...

    Does vent change when pregnant?

I hope my girl is a good mom too! So far breeding rabbits has not been easy or successful for us - polish babies were a bust, 2 peanuts and 2 stillborn, the last one froze during the night when I put it out to be fed. My rex is proven but not with me, and mutilated all her babies, she is on her...

    Does vent change when pregnant?

Well I may have an answer!! Swollen, purple vent = late pregnancy I put a nest box in with my FGX doe yesterday. She felt "full" and had visible nips but I have only had her 13 days so I don't know her normal. She was in colony until 1 week before I got her, so from 6 months of age until 3...

    Does vent change when pregnant?

I have noticed in my little polish doe, when she is pregnant her vent is white and thin, not at all swollen. My only other rabbit that will breed is a huge witch when preggo so I can't check her. She's also on her third strike, was not a good mother, if she isn't this time she won't be bred...

How long to warm kits in bra??

I tried the dryer trick and no dice, they are warm and dead. :( Bummer! But two healthy wiggly babies which I am very happy about. I brought the nest box in as soon as she was done and I noticed they were uncovered. Dad is a charlie, so they are all broken, but the dead ones all appear to be...

How long to warm kits in bra??

My little polish girl had babies this morning!!! 5 total - 1 peanut (doa) 2 wiggly 2 were wiggly when she had them but cold half an hour later. I have them in my bra, been warming them about 30 minutes. No blood pooled in nails. How long should I keep this up before considering them gone?

What Breed(s) Do You breed *pics*

I breed standard rexes for meat, fur, and 4H Also NZW for meat (and have an NZX buck to add a little excitement color wise) ...and I got suckered into the big eyes and tiny size of the Polish, so now I have a trio of those as well. So far they are my favorite. My biggest doe is 2.5 pounds and...

Normal or not? Pregnant doe due today

I just put her in and got 4 quick fall-offs. She went back in her cage and started nesting around. So basically she has me 100% confused lol. She's a nice looking doe with a really nice pedigree so we'll give her a few more chances to prove herself.

Normal or not? Pregnant doe due today

Well... I think I've got a fat, not-pregnant doe on my hands. I took her out of the cage and felt her belly - it feels like a normal belly. I would have to assume that on day 32 I'd feel some fullness at the very least. Worse, every time I touch her, she flattens out and lifts. A beautiful...

Normal or not? Pregnant doe due today

Thank you for the reassurance! I know I'm probably just overthinking things here and making it harder than it needs to be. This is a proven doe but my first time with rabbit breeding. I am really glad I purchased a proven doe because if it was her first time I think we'd all be a mess! Her...

Normal or not? Pregnant doe due today

My rex doe is on day 31 today. She's got a big belly but I can't tell if I can feel movement because she isn't the tamest girl ever, and gets twitchy when I touch her. I *thought* I felt something, but can't be certain. My cages have a wooden nest box built into the back. I put hay in it and...

    Another palpating question

Wonderful, thank you! This doe has had a few litters and they said she is great mom but doesn't throw the colors they want in their program. She is a blue otter and was bred to a black otter, with chocolate otter, blue otter, and black otter in both pedigrees, but they are breeding for black...

    Another palpating question

Hi all! I am new to breeding rabbits. I purchased a standard rex doe who was bred before I got her. Their records indicate she was bred Dec 27th, so if my math is right, today is day 14. I tried palpating after watching several videos and what I felt was like when people get swollen lymph...
