Breeding problems - doe won't accept buck

Dear friends, I started raising rabbits again this year - after a break for a few years. I am having the worst time trying to get the rabbits to breed! I never had this issue before. The buck is willing, but the doe is giving the buck the "cold shoulder" every time! I've tried "forced...

    Torn skin

This is great advice. I will apparently have to watch a bit closer - though I will admit, the "together time" was very limited and I watched for fighting, but I clearly must have missed some sort of biting by my buck. I appreciate the heads up. I'll watch out a bit closer for this in the future.

So, would something like "neosporin" work?

    Torn skin

I don't know that I could wrap anything around her. <imagine with me here> If the rabbit were sitting on the table looking away from you - the tear would be right on the rump section - perhaps a few inches off the table. If I wrapped anything around her - it would probably get fouled up with pee...

    Uggghhhh Ticks!

Just an update - I did 2 applications of DE - 3 days apart. I haven't seen any further issues with the rabbits. I'll continue to keep you updated if I have any further bug issues. However, I've been very happy with the DE. I got out a big plastic tote (like the kind you put those ugly sweaters...

    Torn skin

Dear Amigos - We've had a break in the heat and I decided to try my hand at breeding one of my does to my buck. I've bred her a few times over the past 24 hours and today when I was attempting to breed her one last time, I found that her skin on her back was torn. There was a patch of skin...

    Uggghhhh Ticks!

Thanks for the heads up. This is what I found - it can be added directly to the animal food, so I suppose it is safe: http://www.tractorsupply.com/livestock-wormers/red-lake-earth-reg-diatomaceous-earth-with-calcium-bentonite-20-lb--1019864 I won't be spreading it anywhere else other than on my...

    Uggghhhh Ticks!

Wow! I'm thoroughly impressed with this community. I really appreciate your help. I found some DE at the local farm store (online). I'll pick up some tomorrow. As for the essential oils - my wife already has a decent array of those which she uses for cleaning. I'll mix some with maybe ...

    Uggghhhh Ticks!

Hello friends, I would sincerely appreciate any help you can give me. I am raising rabbits in all wire cages in an outside backyard canopy/carport. Here's the problem - I've found some ticks on my rabbits. Any suggestions? I'm raising the rabbits to eat - so I'm not really hoping to poison the...
