    rabbits wasting hay

Wasted hay is totally normal... And definitely not economical. I used to deal with a lot of wasted hay, so I switched to feeding hay cubes instead. It has cut down on both the waste and the mess, while providing a fun chew block at the same time. ;) These are the cubes I buy...

    Feeding Herbs - Book Recommendations

Thank you for sharing your tips and experience, Rainey! I have opted to try growing a few plants for my first year: - Mint - Peppermint - Lemon Balm - Parsley - Thyme I also found an article from years gone by that I had forgotten about... http://www.threelittleladiesrabbitry.co ... dherbs.php...

Holland Lop Buck - Comments? (Updated Pictures)

I think you're probably seeing the original post/pictures... If you look at my most recent comment, he is now eight months old, and I've added current photos. He has grown into his ears quite nicely and has decent bone, but I would like to see shorter bone/limbs and a much wider chest.

Holland Lop Buck - Comments? (Updated Pictures)

Yes, I recognize that he still has a lot of maturing to do; and that Hollands, in general, do at this age. I had a doe whose ears didn't lop until she was several months old -- and then matured into a lovely crown. :D But I was curious to hear other opinions on his current appearance. I am...

    Feeding Herbs - Book Recommendations

Thank you for sharing from your experience, Rainey. :) You seem to grow quite a few herbs. Do you have any tips on caring for an herb garden?

    Feeding Herbs - Book Recommendations

I'm sure that there is; I should take some time to explore those posts. Thank you for the reminder and the links. :) What I'd like to find though are some well-supported/knowledgeable books on the topic. Both for my own reading and as resources in my personal library. __________ Fri Mar 26...

    Meat Rabbit Housing

I don't raise meat rabbits, but I have owned/bred bunnies for more than 9 years. I second Sable's statement. Hutches are cute, and possibly practical if you have only 1-2 bunnies and their hutches are out in the elements (thus requiring greater shelter), but they are impossible to keep clean. A...

    Feeding Herbs - Book Recommendations

I am hoping to learn more about specific herbs and their uses for rabbits, and hopefully, even grow a few of my own this year. For those of you who are familiar with this, could you recommend any good books on the topic? I'd like to find a few good books on herbs in regard to raising rabbits...

    It's been a long time...

I've always enjoyed the practical nature of RT. :) Rabbit owners/breeders who enjoy what they do, are willing to help, and look at things from a common-sense point of view. :) I'm glad to hear that it's been picking up again!

    It's been a long time...

I took a hiatus from rabbit breeding back in 2016-2017... And incidentally ended up taking a hiatus from RT as well. In a cursory glance, it seems that several familiar faces have disappeared, and others have joined... Are things more quiet than they once were? I look forward to browsing and...

Doe rabbit may be absorbing babies???

Back when I first started, I was surprised to find out how simple palpating actually is. :) A few tips that may help you have better success: 1. Practice palpating on a doe that you know is open in order to get a feel for how to do it and an idea of what "normal" feels like. 2. Palpate...

Holland Lop Buck - Comments? (Updated Pictures)

For some reason, I can see the pictures just fine when I view the post from my laptop, but not when I view it from my cellphone... Here is a link to the photos in a Google Photos album: https://photos.app.goo.gl/eax78JcQM6QEFnmV9

Holland Lop Buck - Comments? (Updated Pictures)

I recently purchased this cute, 4-month-old buck. (Sorry! He is still learning to pose and likes to twist around... He's not perfectly straight in the pictures.) https://photos.app.goo.gl/eax78JcQM6QEFnmV9 I am hoping to purchase another doe in Jan-Feb, and I'd like to balance out her...

    Help with baby rabbits

I have disinfected my cages in the past by hosing them down, to remove junk/loose fur, spraying the entire cage with clorox, letting it sit out in the sun to kill off anything else, and then hosing down the cage one more time to rinse off any remaining Clorox. I let the cage air dry in the sun...

    Help with baby rabbits

I used to have this with some of my litters... I'm not certain what it was, but my guess is that it may have been coming from a dirty nestbox. Are your babies still in the nest? If they are still using the nestbox, have you ever cleaned out the entire nest and replaced it with fresh hay/bedding...

Doe with Pimples on Vent Area *Pictures*

Hm, okay. I was hoping to treat it by keeping her vent clean (should I use alcohol swabs?) and possibly applying some kind of ointment. I was really hoping to try using duramycin-10 soluble powder, but apparently it is on back order everywhere around here, and when it becomes available again it...

Doe with Pimples on Vent Area *Pictures*

Pictures of Blackbell's vent (It's kind of hard to see in these pictures, but the thin skin that surrounds her vulva is covered in tiny white pimples): -- Thu Mar 09, 2017 2:22 pm -- ? -- Thu Mar 09, 2017 10:03 pm -- Would it be safe/a good idea to treat her with duo...
