Hello,
I just found out today that one of my bunnies is blind in one eye. She had 2 different colors in her eyes, but now one is frosted over, and she can’t see out of it. Is this a genetic disorder or should I be worried? She is almost 2 years old. I have heard that sometimes they are not really marbled, but have a disorder, and will go blind. Any input is welcome. 2 pictures are from 2 weeks ago. She has been hiding her blind side, and been super protective recently after those photos taken. She is normally pretty sweet. I just thought something was spooking her at night because one other rabbit was being a little odd too. She gets depressed without babies though! :)

I just now noticed she has red eye lids. Picture is terrible, but it sorta shows it.

From what I can see from your pictures, it doesn't look like a cataract has formed in her eye. The eye wasn't marbled but it looks as if she has an infection or possibly a scratch that has formed a bit of an ulcer on her eye. I highly suggest that you take her to a vet in case it is an ulcer it can cause her to loose the eye completely. If it is either infection or ulcer she is going to need medications for it.

I’ve confirmed that it is an infection, and she is getting antibiotics a few times a day. Already her eyelids are less inflamed, and only a little pink, and her eye no longer has pus coming from it. I have also been flushing her eye out with saline before giving her the antibiotics. It seems to be working. The film has not gotten any bigger, but has not gotten any smaller either. I will keep y’all posted.

Sounds like a really good plan that is working well for you. Cleaning it out before the meds go in is a great practice if she tolerates it. The drops will sting pretty good when it first goes in but will get easier on her as time continues. Please do keep me posted on how she is doing.
