Day 26 tomorrow

Due to family and neighbors who used to raise rabbits, I put the nest boxes in with my 2 does tonight. They both SWEAR they had rabbits deliver on day 27, so paranoia won out, lol. I am SOOO nervous!! You'd think I was the one having babies, lol.

Both does were checking out the outside of the boxes when I left. I put some straw in there too. Anything else I need to do or watch for?

I've never had rabbits deliver that early, but I always put the box in at day 28. It's better safe than sorry.

The worst that can happen is they use it as a potty, and you pull it out and replace the bedding when they start "haystaching" (filling their tiny mouths with unbelievable amounts of hay and *hopefully* putting it into the box, rather than on the edge of the cage):

Sometimes they build a nest more than a week before kindling (seems to happen more often at this time of year), other times they wait till they're actually having or already had them.

Hmm....should I have put the straw in the cage outside of the box? I had pre-loaded the box before I put it in....

I do both. The rabbit will put it wherever she wants it, sometimes changing her mind several times (and/or eating it all!).

Rabbits are due 31-32 days after being bred, but I always give them nest boxes a week before

My lion head mix gave birth this morning! Waiting on the Rex doe lol. Babies didn't look wrinkly so I am pretty sure she fed them. Not sure how many yet, felt it was a little chilly to pull them all out and check.

8 kits. But one has a blister looking dot on the top of its head. I will get pics tomorrow after work. They all look to be the same size, so that's good.
Hopefully the Rex will go in the next 2 days.

These were born Sunday, day 30. The one kit has that blister looking thing. I also have one kit smaller than the others. Still happy though!
The rex doe should be having hers any day now.

So far, both of my does seem to go on exactly 30 days. Seems odd, but I like it.

just give the box day 26, delivery is technically days 28-36, 31 is the desired due date. Just let nature go it's way, I've assisted a lot of labors and deliveries cuz I have hollands and they need it often but pretty much every other breed is perfectly fine

On day 32 with my rex...still no fur pulling and no babies....the 8 lion head babies are doing good so far. Kind of wondering about the color on one though....it currently looks a solid pale grey right now. It seems like its gonna be a pretty one when bigger!

No babies. Rebred her on the 3rd. 2 fall offs, then she peed lol. Saw one more fall off after that, possible that there were more....I left her in there while I was feeding and watering. About 30 minutes.
