I have a question. My daughter has been sprayed by two separate bucks in one week, never happened before. I am wondering if the floral perfume she was wearing today when it happened could be the culprit for having these guys spray her. I noticed her perfume was strong as she was going to an appointment. Any ideas? She handles them all and feeds them all the time, what could be happening. Our young buck sprayed at her when she was several feet away, the other when she was real close lol. Needles to say, she is not a happy camper. Any ideas?

My bucks are in the lower cages for this very reason. They might smell one of the does on her or it might be just one of their random sprays. No reason needed.
They will also spray when another buck is nearby.

I let my Flemish buck hop around my rabbitry while feeding. It's like a spraying contest. Stay clear! Haha.

Get them neutered this will solve the problem, it will also make them much calmer and it will make them much better house pets. There are a lot of benefits to neutering your buck if you don't plan on breeding them.
Not necessarily. I have witnessed three very pleasant bucks turn into what for all intents and purposes were hormonal does after they were neutered. One of them actually had to be put down. These were all over 6 months of age at neutering.

Several other bucks I know about were neutered without such a big change in behavior, but neutering only stopped one of three from spraying, and one of three from humping other rabbits and people.

We've had some luck moving spray-happy bucks away from other rabbits, especially other bucks, or putting solid dividers between their cages. Some are just incorrigible, though. My daughter's otherwise adorable Holland Lop sprays her, and her only. I think it's love.

maybe they don't like her floral perfume

I have been sprayed a few times--it seems to be random, and I think they are aiming at the does and I am just a bystander. The last time it was my birthday, everyone had forgotten, and I got sprayed in the face right before I left for work. It was so horrible I just had to laugh--like a bad country western song or a 3 stooges episode, it was the icing on my (lack of) cake! :ROFLMAO:

i've gotten sprayed trying to catch my liltle Cali buck, now I just grab the doe and he comes right over, god love him. It always makes me think of my brother when we were little and you would have something gross on your hand and say smell this and stick it in their face. I'm so warped, he's gone now so I can't do that ha plus I'm an oldER woman but it's a funny memory.

My bucks only spray when they feel I have ignored them or have not given them any attention. Mine do not do it when I take a moment to pet them and tell them how gorgeous they are. Mine will aim right for me. They are spraying her on purpose. They want her attention and may spray her again if she slacks on the lovins.🤣🥰

Unfortunately the boys will spin and blurt (spray) the person they like. It is a way to share their wonderful bucky goodness. (eww) That perfume thought is interesting. Not sure but rabbits have a great sense of smell. They might be trying to overcome it?

I notice our younger boys tend to spin and blurt more than the older ones.

If this the case, all the buck I have really love me.
