I got a standard female Rex finally after searching for 6 months, they are very scarce to come by in Connecticut all you see is minis minis minis. So I got her and put her in this huge deluxe hutch I have with one of those back spaces that double as an area to get away from the cold a bedroom and or a nest area. I made the mistake of putting wood shavings there thinking well she doesn't need hay in that area since I have a hay feeder so I'll put wood shavings so she has something to keep warm so she's been going to the bathroom back there. So I took the wood shavings that were covered in her pee and I put it in the corner where the fence is where the poop can fall through etc into buckets that I catch underneath easy peasy clean up and I also put her droppings on top of that but she's very stubborn keeps going back there so I took out some of the shavings where she goes to the bathroom and I layered a couple of bricks she's a very good rabbit and it's almost humorous cuz it's like she knows what I'm doing. Does anybody have any other suggestions? Maybe I should close off that back area completely the front area is 5x3 so there's more than enough room right now, any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.

block her out of that corner completely. She doesn't need to go in there this time of year if she's housed outside. Otherwise you are always going to have a problem with that spot. Even at this point, she might still want to go in there... some rabbits are notoriously stubborn about changing their potty area.

I have had the best luck with potty training by starting off with a small space and they figure out the litterbox in a few days and then they can get more freedom. I haven't been able to get them to be mistake-free in larger hutches.

I think she likes the back are as its dark but all mynither a bit had no problem usingbthatnspit perhaps cause its a new bottom I put in but I put her scent there her wet wood chips and hernpoop. On top lol. I'm gonna close off the are. Her hutxhnis innxonsrant shade anyways and is large.

So I closed up that part she was a little mad at first but she soon got over it after ingaave her grass right at the base Of the entrance inwoukdnt want her to start going there.... I think i caught her going in the corner butbi didnt see and pre drip out bottom of cafe or poop. Time will tell. If rather have her learn now than deal with this when I want to breed. Lol
