I’ll start by saying my rabbits are all outdoors. I noticed this small black patch on one of my rabbits nose a couple weeks ago at that time it was much smaller than it is now and I assumed it was mud or dirt from burrowing. Fast forward a couple weeks the spot is much darker and bigger (as pictured) so I decided to investigate it further. The black patch appears to be a possibly what I am assuming to be a bunch of fleas imbedded in my rabbits skin? When I tried to wipe it off it started to move a little and I noticed some things crawling around it. Has anyone else seen this before or have any idea what it is or how to treat it???

Could it be he got into a bunch of seed ticks? It’s odd they are all in a clump. Fleas usually jump, ticks imbed. I agree with the ivermectin shot though. It will make critters fall off…… or is it more like bloody scabs from something chewing it or poop, like from mites? Either way ivermectin should help it. Poor bunny.

So I decided to take a closer look today and I combed through my rabbits head and neck and sure enough he had fleas but not so much on his body. I took a dab of dawn dish soap and put it on the black spot and immediately fleas started coming out of it, getting caught in the soap, and dying. So strange that they are all clustered like that I’ve never seen that with fleas

Me either, that’s so strange. I bet his little nose is so itchy. Does the bunny have them all over?

Not all over but on his head and neck. After applying the dawn soap most of them died or fell off that were on his nose but his poor little nose is a little pink where they were. The local feed store has several pet rabbits and recommended some of the products they use for them so he is being treated now
