Looks like a strange Standard Rex Lop mix
not an English Spot. 
He's just a mutt rabbit. Can't tell what breed he is at all.

Agreed, definitely not an English Spot. They're a full-arch breed with medium to fine bone and a very specific pattern to their spots. He's not even close. Here is the photo from the ARBA webpage:
I think your vet is probably on the right track with lop mix, given the huskiness and stockiness of your rabbit overall and its tendency to drop its large, heavy, well-rounded ears.

Lop/New Zealand maybe? Really hard to tell but he's cute and blocky.
So far that's what I think he is, roughly. He's a big boy lol
