I was very THANKFUL to have found an AMAZING breeder in my town! All the rabbits I purchased from her had their pedigree 7+Gens. So now all my kits have even more! They’re also very good about color, weight, etc. I love all my REX! I will post pix of a pedigree and the rabbit it belongs to. I crossed of the herd Names as I’m not sure if the breeder wants their herd name shown. I also covered my info, but the rest is there! Keep in mind this was his pedigree when he was young, thus why he weighted about 5 pounds then. He’s MUCH HEAVIER NOW! I'm in Texas. I wouldn't knock out whole states over that virus. What I would do is look up the current outbreaks and stay away from those specific areas. Pretty sure there is a website but i don't have it handy.
Yeah, I had looked up the affected areas before. I'm getting a buck from Texas next week.

Northeast Arkansas area but due to husband being a truck driver we could pick up a rabbit just about anywhere in the south from TX to PA.
Hi, I breed Pedigreed Silver Fox rabbits. I am in the Bryan, TX area. Will that work for you? I only have these last two liters left until Fall. Too hot to breed or kindle now. Be in touch if you are interested. My singles and breeding pairs will be going to new homes after June 4th.

Let me do some thinking on those. I have never raised Silver Fox and don't see them much here but I'd like to add another breed.

Somehow the rabbit virus got to Maui. It's not on my island yet, but the herd here is now completely closed. No new rabbits, no visitors - especially visitors who have rabbits, no used equipment, etc., etc.

Apparently, on Maui 9 out of 12 rabbits on a farm died from the virus and they hadn't been in contact with any imported rabbits. However, the farm had some visiting WWOOFers (Willing Workers On Organic Farms) who had contact with rabbits before they arrived. The virus is supposed to stay active even without a rabbit for up to two or three months! How is that going to work at rabbit shows?

5 years ago, when I started with rabbits, it was easier to find decent rabbits. Now that we are starting our rabbitry again I am having the hardest time finding quality, pedigreed stock. I insist on pedigreed stock because my goal is to produce the best rabbits I can, not just any ol' rabbits. I do not have facebook and will not go back to facebook. Other than this forum I am not a part of any social media so I have been looking on the ARBA breeder's directory, specific breed registries, google searches, and even stooped down to Craigslist.
My sweet, awesome husband has also been looking and found a Rex breeder in Texas, on Craigslist. The ad said they were pedigreed, and he called the lady. I was also on the phone with them so I could ask questions. I don't even remember what color this particular rabbit was but she sent me his pedigree. Not a single weight, the only info on it was the names of his parents, grandparents, etc and their color and just about every variety of Rex was on that pedigree. Hubby still thought it would be a good addition to our rabbitry but I firmly told him no.
Looking for quality Flemish is also looking like an impossible task. People on craigslist and other ads post a rabbit, we'll say Flemish, that are supposed to be purebred and the dang rabbit isn't even a recognized Flemish color. And these people are supposedly breeders. I think my husband thinks I'm a rabbit snob, but I told him the whole point of breeding pedigreed stock is to keep to the breed's standard and that pedigree should act as a road map of sorts. You should be able to look at the pedigree and the colors behind a rabbit and know pretty well what it will produce when bred to another color. If the rabbit isn't bred color-correct, there's no predictability and you can get babies with wonky coloring, which is fine for meat and pets, but that's not our primary goal.
And the price has gone up, which is understandable since everything else has gone up. In a couple weeks we are taking a road trip to Texas to get a beautiful junior Rex buck and we are paying more for him than I paid for my pedigreed junior Flemish buck a few years ago.
I have emailed about a dozen people I found on rabbitbreeders.us and ARBA and most of the time I never get a reply back or the email address is no longer valid lol.
NFFGRB.ORG has a list of breeders from USA and Canada....also check show point standing and google names and rabbitrys for contact info.... you missed the flemish national show it was in Missouri this year, ARBA convention is in Nevada this year in the fall

If your wanting show lines only buy from show people because they know what the body structure, color and everything to do with that breed has to be to put it on a show table to complete against others, just because a rabbit has a pedigree doesn't mean squat !!! That just tells you the name, color, size, placements at shows, doesn't say anything about it's body structure and so on to make it a winner.
It doesn't cost you anymore to feed a champion show rabbit than it does to feed a unshowable, DQ'ed, or mixed rabbit.

Conway isn't too awful far. This fall I'll be looking to get a couple New Zealands :)

I will definitely have them. Right now I have tamuk/Flemish Giant buns in oven and another mom preparing for full tamuk babies. I'm waiting for this heat to break before I breed anymore but new Zealand is next to be bred. I have a broken tri color new Zealand buck that produces large kits even when bred to the smaller English spot/lionhead mix doe and their babies are so beautiful. Like colorful New Zealand with mane between ears and some even have a full face of mane like the lion. Lol. They are perfect babies for pets yet big enough for meat if you so chose
