so hey my rabbit has been neutered for about a year now and has been pretty consistent with his litter box usage. but starting yesterday he has been pooping EVERYWHERE, but especially on my bed. every time he hops, he poops and it is getting out of control. i have no idea what is causing it, and i really hate poop everywhere. please help.

Hey, there! Here are some things to think through about it that may help figure him out:

Is the poop normal or softer-than-usual? How old is he? Has anything in his diet changed lately (more or new treats, etc.)? Is he eating and drinking normally? Is he acting sick or having other different behaviors than normal? Anything new in his environment that could be stressing him and causing him to change his habits? New pet in the house, new person in the house, change in how much you are at home, change in routine...

thank u so much for the response!!! i recently got him some new pellets. the brand is mama pro. i mixed in some of his old pellets in with it to help him accumulate. do u think maybe that is the cause? and if it is, what do i do?

Sure!

The food change would be my guess! He is probably still getting used to the new pellets. It's good that you mixed in the old food with his new food; if you have more of the old kind you could continue to mix it in to help him adjust better. If his poop is normal, then he may just need to be kept in a smaller area to manage the mess until his digestion returns to normal and he can regain his habits. If you have the ability to make a little pen that includes his litter box, that may be good for now. Keep an eye on him for other abnormal behaviors that could indicate another problem. Not sure what else you could do... Do you feed him hay?

i feed him lots of hay, and a handful of spring mix each night with a bit of pellets on top

Good; having the hay for him should help smooth out the feed change. The only other thing I can think of would be the spring mix (those are greens?) you are feeding him. They could have something on them that could be bothering him, like a bacteria in the batch you have now. I don't know for sure, but that is something that could be affecting his digestion. His droppings are normal, right? I would keep an eye out for diarrhea or bloat, which is what I would expect to see at some point if he was having a problem with something on the greens. Rabbits are definitely sensitive to changes in feed. Sorry I don't have any other ideas; I haven't had an issue like this with my rabbits. Just thinking through how rabbits work. If he was having diarrhea or soft droppings I would recommend feeding him a little kitchen oatmeal/rolled oats. Not sure if that would help anything with his current issue, though; and, he may also have some other issue that I am unaware of.

If you are concerned about him, it could also be a good idea to consult a vet. :)
