I was cutting some doors into some new cages today, and thought I'd create a tutorial on how I make my cage racks from the scrap door wire. The same methods can be used to make any size rack you wish. Hope this helps!
Step 1. The wire which in this case is the waste from cutting a door opening into a new cage I built.
Step 2. Bend the wire into a semi-circle
Step 3. Bend the excess wire on the bottom of your rack as shown. This keeps hay from falling through the rack. Young kits can also reach the hay from underneath if unable to get from the sides.
Step 4. Remove excess wire ends from sides and top. Leave the two top end wires and two bottom side wires. These will be used to form the cage attachment points.
Step 5. Bend the two top wires and two bottom side wires into a "U" shape. This is what you will attach the feeder to the horizontal wire on the cage with.
Step 6. Attach hay rack to cage. I usually have mine inside the cage, but they can just as easily be attached to the outside. There is a picture each way, and also one with hay in it.
