My NZW doe kindled today.
I went out this morning 9am and saw a nest full of fur...I knew something was coming!

I had to do some things and went to go check again at 12 noon...POPPLES!!!

These are my SF buck and NZW doe cross.
She had 6 so far (last time 7 but only 5 made it)

To me they look gray some darker if maybe black
Whatcha think?

:congratulations:

They look like they could be blues and blacks! That would be fun! :p

Forgot to add that my SF buck supposedly has choco lines.

Also here is Quentin's last litter @ 4 weeks...I had just taken 4 away from her to wean.

She had 5 that made it and also fostered 2 from my Queen mama NZ doe
All 7 are very healthy and eating hay, pellets, and oats!

In that case, they look like chocolates to me. OAF has chocolate Rex- I bet she would know.

In the last pic, the two on the top look more blue, but the bottom three look chocolate. The one you are holding looks black. I guess we'll see in a couple of days when they start getting fuzzy. :)

Genetics are not my strong point, so I have no idea if you can get those three colors out of the pair you bred. I do know that blue is the dilute of black, and lilac is the dilute of chocolate.

I believe you can only get chocolate if the doe carries it as well. I think it's recessive.

Super cute, though, can't wait to see them grow out!!

Thanks!

Well, we will have another NZ/SF litter here in the next 1-3 days.
My other NZW was bred 3 days later.

Let just hope this second kindle for her goes better.
Last (first time for her) she had 2 that made it, three others were late and stillbirth.

They look somewhat like chestnuts and blacks... showing pics of the belly would help! Chocolate would be a reach, not sure that it is that common in the New Zealands, but you never know!
