First time mom did not make a nest, had the babies, sat on them, and they died.

She seems very weak and will not move or eat. This breeding stuff is hard.

My rabbit gave birth in her own nest she made from the bay in her cage instead of the nest box. Should I move them or leave them alone?

Update: they’re all dead. It’s currently 52 degrees and raining. Not sure if it’s weather conditions, them being in the nest the mother made, or the mother not nursing.

    Breeding for the first time

I put my doe and buck together in a neutral 4 x 12 space or so. The buck somewhat casually chased the doe around for 5 minutes or so while they ate grass. Out of nowhere the buck finally mounted and had a fall off. Then the doe laid sprawled on the grass with her tail flat against the grass...

    Meat Taste and Tenderness?

What do you feed your rabbits now that you stopped feeding pellets? I have been feeding mine hay, occasional fresh grass, occasional oregano and thyme from my garden, and less occasional lettuce from the store. But I wonder if that’s enough.

    Great idea! Thanks

Hay Racks - what’s the point?

I set up a vertical wire hay rack thinking it would keep the cage from becoming a mess. The rabbits just pull out all the hay and spread it in the cage and soil it anyway. So what’s the point of the hay rack? Has anyone found a good set up to where they don’t make as much of a mess?

Wanting to get creative with my cage set up

I have two does and a buck set up in three separate cages right next to each other. I was thinking about setting up ramps leading to an enclosed outdoor space where they can take turns stretching their legs and moving around a bit more. Should I be concerned about them returning to the same...

I thought I put two does together, and they fought. Maybe they weren't two does? Maybe it was a buck and a doe?

Let me start by saying I am a moron, and I know it. I bought three meat rabbits a few months ago - one buck and two does. They are New Zealand/Rex. They are just about 5 months old. I separated them at around 12 weeks and have had them separated ever since. I had read that some people keep does...
