Judging a Doe's Readiness and Breeding Tips

I recently got my first pair of English Lops (I've been raising Mini Lops). The doe is 6 months and the buck 10. Would those who have raised this breed agree with things I've read that a good age to wait to breed an E Lop doe is 9 months? or is it more based on weight? Thanks!

My first pair of English Lops!

Thank you for the kind comments! I am really enjoying them. It's funny now how my Mini Lops seem small after handling the English Lops. The doe is definitely more outgoing and curious. She already sticks her head out the cage door when being fed and won't put it back in because she wants...

Happy to have our first pair of English Lops! We've been raising Mini Lops for a couple years (still are) and now have ventured into English Lops also. I'm enjoying getting acquainted with these two.

Help....I can't get my doe to breed.

I came across this post and thought I'd add what I changed with my Mini Lop doe and saw a very big change. I added a little apple cider vinegar to her water each day, gave her 1 TB of a combination of oats and black oil sunflower seeds (ratio 3:1) in the evening (she still got her normal Kent...

    Colors from black & fawn?

Dood - I wanted to let you know the outcome since you were so kind to share your thoughts on color. There are two black and these two. How early can one tell whether orange or tort? Thanks again!

We shall see in a couple days! I was hoping for the possibility of fawn or tort. That would be nice.

    Lionheads vs Netherland Dwarf

I don't know if this will happen but I've considered the idea of raising another breed besides Mini Lops. I'd love to know what main differences people have found between raising Lionheads vs Netherland Dwarf rabbits. I'd like to know any observations, such as: differences in temperament...

My new tri color "kit" ... okay dilute calico kitten!

We have a new friend in our rabbitry. We got this sweet girl this past weekend. She was a malnourished stray that a sweet lady had taken in, loved on, gave vet care to, and was simply wanting to find a good home for her. We are glad to have Lucy! She was not sure what to think of the...

    Best Way To Clean Feet?

Just wanted to say I appreciated these posts. I usually don't have issues with yellow feet with my rabbits. However, one of my daughters had put a wood resting spot in the cage for them and apparently they were all hanging out there going potty. The damage was done before I realized the...
