With Jones- don't you also get 2% off if you pay in 10 days? When my husband had commercials- he used to feed their food. I just started with rabbits again and I am feeding co-ops feed. I think it's more expensive than Jones, but I'll have to check labels when I get home. They have a doe/litter...
After a nail-biting ride down to Lapeer Michigan this morning in a snowstorm(2nd day of spring.....look.....more snow!!) I managed to pick up my little starter herd of mini-satins. 5 hours down and 4 hours back, what a ton of driving in a day that started at 3am!!
I am now the proud owner of 4...
Just wondering if any Mini Satin breeders will be at the Lapeer show this coming week-end with stock for sale? I am having quite a bit of trouble finding any, I know it's not the ideal time of the year- but I'm hoping anyhow :)
So sorry to see that happen. I had rats, once, in the rabbitry that did that to a litter of kits, they pulled their legs through the bottom and chewed them off- it was just awful to see. Was this kit the same one who was chilled?
Does anyone in Ontario have hedgehogs? They were really popular here about 10-15 years ago(and I had some at the time) but they have since fallen out of favour. I am looking for some and would love to find a breeder of them. Thanks!!!
Good for you!! It's a great feeling, I find, to be able to say I raised my own food from start to finish. I am in the same boat- it's been about that long since I dressed my own rabbits, and I can't wait to be able to do it again!
Yes, that one definitely looks like a tort. I love how torts look as babies that size, the markings are just perfect :) Are they an accepted colour in your breed(sorry not sure what breed it is!!)
Years ago I read(somewhere and can't remember where) that the best way to warm kits up was to stick them in your shirt against your skin. It works REALLY well. I don't have to worry about them either, I stick them in my bra and go about my other chores. About 20 minutes with the warmth and...
The breeder I got my Florida White from also breeds dutch. I know he does eat his rabbits- so that might be the best place for me to start. I know the dutch markings can be a PITA though- having never had them, I'm not sure just how difficult they will be. At least I don't have to worry about...
The top one could be a smutty orange- but you saying it has blue points would lead me to believe it is a blue tort. The bottom kit looks chocolate, or possibly chocolate tort, could even be chocolate agouti- since you used a chin buck. Do you have any more recent pictures of them, and maybe from...
I am looking into getting a second breed of rabbit for show and meat, and was wondering which of the two above would be better for meat qualities. I have a young son who will be my helper- so wanted a breed that won't be too large for him to handle. Thanks for any advice.
Yes, there are videos- I've watched them and that's when I decided to try doing it. I'll pick up my garbage disposer this week, and the sink to go with it- all for about 20.00. We have apple trees that line the north side of our property that haven't really been used in years- so we'll take the...
You actually can use an(obviously cleaned) garbage disposal to do a large amount of apples, you attach it to a stand alone sink, run your apples through it with a bucket lined with cheescloth in the bottom to catch the pulp, press out the juice using a home-made apple press that uses a car jack...
I used to judge my Netherlands for show quality at 4 weeks....then I would put them away until they were older before I looked at them again. I'm assuming different breeds and different lines would be evaluated between 4 and 8 weeks. Having never raised angoras I can't comment of their wool...
