4 Corners of the South show in Shreveport

Too bad. The show was really nice and well-run and planned. Lord willing, I'll go back there next year.

I have lived in some of the WORST places in the world since developing this allergy (Iceland, Alaska, Florida). In fact, I was living in Florida when the thing surfaced. Cannot eat shrimp, crab, lobster, prawn. crawfish, you name it. It is has a soft shell, I cannot eat it.

Have I ever told you that it absolutely STINKS to have a shellfish allergy? :pancake:

Any Opinions on My Mini Rexs

When you go to a show, get someone who raises them to teach you how to pose them. I know it is tricky to keep them posed and take pictures, but it is often kind of hard to eval them when they are not posed properly.

Who else is planning on making the trip?

    First Show by Myself

Understood. I generally do not bring anyone to my rabbitry as a precaution against vandalism more than anything else. Call me paranoid, but I feel I've put way too much into what I have to just let it go to the wayside at the hands and will of someone to whom it means nothing. The reason I...

    First Show by Myself

I go alone to just about every show I attend. Trying to get people in this state interested in rabbits enough to travel ridiculous distances is like trying to do a root canal on an alligator. Most "breeders" around here think that travelling 300+ miles one way to a show is insane. Well, it...

    Real or Fake?

    It's a recently sheared Angora. It's real.

    visiting a rabbitry

I feel like in this day and time it pays to be overly cautious. When I was a teenager, I raised them in outdoor hutches in the plain sight of everyone. Back then, people around our area respected our things. It's simply not the case any longer, and people don't care how much time, money...

what do you wish you had known...

I wish we had that many here in Arkansas. There is hardly a show I travel to which doesn't require me to drive a minimum of 300 miles each way.

what do you wish you had known...

Buy the best rabbits in terms of bloodlines that you can reasonably afford. Start off marginal and it will be a difficult road to the top of competing on a consistent basis. Be humble enough to listen to and heed the advice of experienced breeders. They're trying to help you, not hurt you...

    Went To My First Show...

Absolutely, joint the ARBA. The more the merrier, and you have to be an ARBA member in good standing to enter rabbits @ convention.

Then one day you run for a directorship in your national breed specialty club and are expected to attend all national shows, regardless of where they're held.

    Went To My First Show...

First shows are ones you will never forget. The experience is like no other, especially when you are stricken with "the bug". Then one day you make your way into a convention or a breed national.

    Pueblo Colorado Show 6/13/15

If I were guessing, Stacy Billings and Brian Coates were likely there. They live in Wyoming, and that is their region. My problem with a June show has to do with the heat between here and there. The distance is also a negative factor, but one day I intend to make a Colorado show trip. It's...
