    Bucks wont breed

I had that problem last fall, only one of my bucks seemed interested in the ladies at all. I had the does under lights but not the bucks. Someone suggested to put the bucks under lights as well and it worked like a charm. Lots of litters all through the winter. Shouldn't be a problem this...

    Breeding Help!?!?!

They would just be due today, be patient and leave the nest box in another week just in case. Also, did the buck fall off when he bred them?

    my homeschooled kid

TOTALLY agree! If I had it to do over again I would homeschool my kids. The public schools are war zones, not much learning takes place. We have foster boys that are forced by the state to go to public school. My husband and I spend hours helping with homework…why bother to send them just so...

What age should a rabbit reach to know if show quality?

I am still relatively new to the breeding and showing game, 3 years now, and I'm finally starting to see my lines become more consistent and my eye getting better at picking who to keep. Thanks Ottersatin for your timely advice as I was just beginning to get a handle on picking in the nest box...

    daydream breeders

Perhaps you could find someone in your area that raises meat rabbits on a small scale and would not mind processing a few extra for a small price. If I was closer to you I would do it. Just a thought, how much would everyone consider a reasonable price for processing a couple of rabbits?

    Planning for cage needs.

We drive the quad with a noisy trailer attached through the barn all the time, it's how I muck stalls. Also we have big noisy roll-up doors at both ends of the barn. The buns get used to it really quick and I actually think they are less stressed by the noise, etc. when I take them to a show...

    rabbit urine question

A lot of my babies pee red. Seems to be no problem at all, very healthy. They also grow out of it eventually.

    Crazy doe?

Put the nest box back in right away, I leave it in for a week after the due day at least, and several times I've been very grateful that I have. That sounds like possible nesting behavior, especially since it started a few days ago.

Satins. Are they a good breed?

I raise mini satins, but have a lot of friends with satins. Minis or standards are great for meat, come in all kinds of colors and the fur is amazing. Some people describe it as silky, almost like silicone feeling but not at all greasy. You have to feel it to believe it! (Guess I'm a little...

    self chin genetics?

Thanks Dood, I knew the chances of them carrying self was low, but not impossible. Three of the grandparents definitely carried self. I keep all my bucks in a separate room so I'm sure of the parentage.

    self chin genetics?

I have a copper (chestnut) doe that I know carries chin and non-extension. I bred her to a red buck that I know is Cc. Got two solid black kits. Neither of the parents have ever had a self before, but can I assume from this that whether it is a black or a self chin that both parents carry...

    Huge size difference

It's going to be interesting to see if they start to catch up now that they've finally started eating solid food. They were slower to come out of the nest box and start eating on their own than the other litters.

    Huge size difference

Hi, I had three litters born on the same day. They are now 17 days old. Two litters are totally normal size, but in the third the babies are significantly smaller. Parents are small, but within size limits for the breed and have had normal litters before. Litter was 4, with two peanuts which...
