The rabbits are rationed with the feed one day is the pellet mix, and other the grains, another is divided between pellet and grain, and there is also a hay only day.
But they get hay always and we also do BOSS too. Along with grasses a quart jar per full size (as they are the small standard...
So hopefully in the right area to ask this lol.
We naturally feed and only pellets they get is a mix we started doing of beet pellets, alfalfa pellets, calf manor pellets, and sometimes depending on budget orchard grass pellets (since non are keen on Timothy hay pellets nor the alfalfa mixed...
Thanks so much for the pic. The one we opened up looked fine nothing like that.
So got me wondering if intestinal.
Me and the hubby where talking when we got our breding stock they kept their rabbits in pens with deep litter and off the top of my head lost 5 does and a buck from those meat...
You might have missed it but I'm in Ohio.
I feed boss and the other stuff you listed along with grains like wheat and sometimes barely. Our rabbits are weird one minute loving the wheat not to fond but will eat the barely and the next minute its the opposite lol.
Thanks for everything you...
Okay so a quick background
Breeders
3 does - satin/Flemish (one will be culled not a good mom)(theses are a standard flem cross not the bigger type. Think around a size of a yokish)
2 does - lop/satin (right no arent being used and maybe culled one goes too early given 2 chances and the other...
This maybe a long post but I want to give a bit of background info so maybe that will help with getting our questions answered easier or hopefully help you all give us tips etc. lol
So we are naturally (or how we have interpreted it lol) feeding our rabbits. They are feed grasses and friendly...
Yes they will eat all the wood.
I've found with mine some love apple branches others just like the leaves and bark.
But they all love pear branches they last maybe 5mins lol
I still need to try Willow and others to see.
But you'll find what is their fav and which you'll prob end up giving...
We are hoping she (sister) kindles here in a few days. She got the nestbox sat. Since it's getting a little cooler here (ohio) I lined the nestbox (we did the dropdown nest box style since we have flemish crosses (standard flamish not giants and found it hard with the litter from our one doe...
This was our first set of kits and 1st time mom.
All seemed well. She didn't have them in the nesting box but on the cage, we were home and put them in the nesting box (non were cold as we waited for her to clean etc.).
As of tues they would have been 2wks old.
The first few days of life...
Sorry for the late response. We are in Ohio (northeast ish part)
We ended up giving our doe and two bucks to a 4her to be able to go with breeds that work better. Finally found someone who sells meat rabbits lol.
So we now have 1 buck Flemish/satin, 2 does Flemish/satin, 1 doe Cali, and 1 doe...
Thank you for that info.
Makes upping our own feed game a lot easier lol.
Now just gotta wait till she's ready to be bred and breed her with Cole till we get an offspring doe of qualities that we like and then breed that doe to yoyo for size.
Meat mutts are better than settling on prubreeds lol.
So we finally found a female rabbit that was to our likings (it is hard in the area as most are kept for breeding) to breed with our two males to build up the quality of meat rabbits and fur that we want.
With our first buck he wanted nothing to do with pellets (the deer loved him for it lol)...
