Sorry for the late reply.
Yes! Only one in this litter. She was named Mutt, and just had her first litter. The buck is a Broken Red Satin. Mom and babies in the media below
She was almost 11lbs before she got pregnant, and gained just under 1lb.
There is one of our lilac otter kits with a broken leg. I am not sure what to do. It's body is stiff and it doesn't move. Breathing is labored and it's eyes seem rolled back in a way.
I'm sure the little guy is in a lot of pain and suffering. It was out of the nest box on the wire. I have put...
All but one runt has been eating well since my post. I got it to eat from the red doe.
Currently scores are:
6 (runts) with creme doe
7 with red doe (Previously benched)
5 (bullies) with lilac doe
7 on the bench. (Previously with creme)
The creme d'argent seems to be the best mom, or at...
Previously 27. Two deceased runts. 5 runts standing. I am open to suggestions, but this is whats being done.
Four nesting boxes, three litters. The 5 largest or best fed take a 12 hour break. The runts were being rotated around. The runts were not getting fed for 2 days before we started moving...
What do we think of these ears?
They have plenty of water, I don't see any extra earwax or mite evidence.
They don't always curl the tips but there are two out of five that have a really pronounced curl.
I had one doe eat some kits, but I think she was eating dead kits. There was still one dead one as well as some parts from the others.
She had a number of healthy babies that made it all the way though!
The mommas usually know what they are doing.
I suspected a split penis but I haven't checked. He has a litter of one under his belt now, but the mom came from a litter of 9.
I did try him again to the creme d'argent doe, and she pulled fur today. (day 26)
He is our only creme buck, I will have to check for both testicles. It hasn't been...
We tried a few times to breed our creme d'argent pair but nothing ever came of it. Not a haystache, not a fur pull, NOTHIN'!
So I bred her to our really nice chocolate otter. I figured at the worst they could be sold or butchered. He has 3 legs from showing at ASRBA shows. I want to take him to...
I've found if I do it earlier than 28 days they are likely to use it as a litter box. Though, if a doe is haystaching I will put a nest box in earlier. I had three haystaching today. Two of them are on day 26, the other is day 24. They all got nestboxes after I saw them haystaching.
Right now, we think the middle one is a doe. If she does carry a more intense silvering she could go to our creme d'argent buck in October or November.
Depending on the color of the red satin x d'argent cross, we could breed it one of the chestnuts or back to one of the argents.
But the one...
Hello all, I joined to post about this litter. I see some other members have some similar crosses. I think most of them are headed for freezer camp. There are five silvered chestnuts that came from a creme d'argent doe with a chocolate otter satin buck as the sire. There is also one kit that was...
