Sorry it was so rough! We have been doing this for about a year now.... it is still difficult, but it has gotten much easier!!! One thing that I have found to help, with the warmth, is to wear disposable gloves(latex, etc). It helps me A LOT! Hang in there :)

We have a meat mutt (bred to NZW buck) that we bred Dec 5. We were looking for babies a week and a half ago, when day after day she didn't have kits, I assumed that she had missed.
We go out this morning to feed/water and she has had 10 babies :P
I have never had a doe go 40 days before...

If you go with the malted grains, how do you plan to feed it? I guess I am asking, if you would feed just malted grains and hay or would you mix it in with other grains/pellets, etc.

Thanks for the input!! The little one was destined for the freezer anyway, they are just pretty small still and we wanted to give them (the litter) a few more weeks, but if he ends out with an infection or acts like he is hurting, he will go sooner!

We went out this morning and found one of our 7-8 week old mix breed kits with a LARGE patch of skin missing. The poor thing is eating and drinking fine and moving around, quite a bit, but has to be hurting.
It looks like something tried to skin it alive. It has ~1" wide strip missing that...
