How noisy should baby buns be?

This is my first litter that actually survived (I had 2 attempts before but both times the first time mothers didn't do so hot). When the mothers weren't taking care of them they would be lethargic, but then suddenly SUPER vocal and then quiet again. These guys are just little out tiny little...

How noisy should baby buns be?

Hello, this is my doe's second attempt at breeding. First time was an accident and went horribly. (there was no nesting box, when I made one she ignored them, they all died one by one) This time she did most things right, she pulled fur (she actually emptied the nesting box and replaced...

Mixing furs for spinning, or selling directly as fiber?

By cleaned do you mean carted? Also, so only sheep wool does this, mohair, alpaca hair, and whatnot won't help?

Mixing furs for spinning, or selling directly as fiber?

I'm in a very middle of nowhere kind of place so guilds are going to be scarce. Its very very VERY cold here though so overly warm clothes isn't a huge issue. Maybe I can find sheep wool from a local farmer.

Mixing furs for spinning, or selling directly as fiber?

Weird question but, I hear angora fur, while super soft and warm, tends to not hold its shape when spun/knitted into products. Would combining it with a different rabbit fur such as silver fox fix this problem or would it be better to sell the fiber raw until I have a sheep or goat to join the...

Teaching your rabbit to roll over?

Ooh thanks, I actually just want it to be willing to flop over on its side on command. I don't need a full rolling motion. Hm... target training does look helpful for this. So for example: target nose-spot in cage, then paw to spot in cage, then finally side of body to floor of cage...

Teaching your rabbit to roll over?

Not really a behavioral issues per se but I can't find a good place for this thread... How would you teach a rabbit to roll over? I see that some people teach their rabbits tricks, and I know the key is patience, not taking the rabbit too far too fast, and of course plenty of treats when they...

How to deal with poop and pee (indoor, unneutered)

I find this concept... confusing. Like... do I cut the slant boards into chunks and stack em side by side...?

How to deal with poop and pee (indoor, unneutered)

Ooh good idea. I'll use those for the lower cages then. Um... I tried the slant board. I feel like I'm doing it wrong. The "board" isn't flat, it curves, which.. makes me unsure how to attach gutters? Am I screwing these on or using more copper wire....?

We do have a lowes. :D Thanks for the link.*tries to order online* Uhhh hrm, it would appear I need as much bandwidth as your average overwatch player to utilize this site. *tries desperately every time the ping raises* *2 days later* Theeeere we go. They sent me 3 confirmation emails in the...

How to deal with poop and pee (indoor, unneutered)

I visited Iowa for Christmas. Child's play by comparison. Up here I'd have to dig snowtrenches every year to just reach the rabbits, the snowblower would probably scare them to death, and keeping them DRY in the Winter? Impossible! Even with a really REALLY big roof, the wind WILL blow snow into...

How to deal with poop and pee (indoor, unneutered)

Veeery far north in Maine. I have heard way too many horror stories from farmers who tried keeping them outside. The only "success" story I've heard was the person who released them literally into the yard with no fence. They dug burrows and seem to survive every year. (obviously I'm not doing...

How to deal with poop and pee (indoor, unneutered)

So I'm trying to get rabbits going and I'm starting with very large wire cages for when I scale up (but only starting with a few rabbits). It's very very VERY cold where I live to the point where keeping rabbits outside year long is basically unheard of. (Trying and having them freeze to death...

    Bun ingesting cat litter?

My bun escaped his cage late in the night and I awoke at 3am to find him hopping around in a bunch of clumping cat litter. (I have no idea how he got up that high, the litter is waaaaaay above his cage. Did he scale the walls?!) Horrified I picked him up and found he had hopped into a wet patch...
