My colony, triumphs and troubles

Well, since I raised the feeders there's no issues. They're still smaller than I think they should be, but they're free fed. Some of them look perfect now. They're 6 weeks old as of yesterday. Its so fun to go out to the shed and play with the babies. YAY babies! lol. They grow in such...

    neighborhood kids

So I never did reply. Later that day, right after posting that, I went and got a lock for the cage. Plus the neighbor kid got in a lot more trouble. I went and 'told on him' to grandma, cause he was climbing the other neighbor's ladder, up onto the roof of their garage. He moved back with...

    neighborhood kids

Its summer, and a neighborhood kid has come a-wandering... And let out 2 of my silver-spotted mutts! Luckily they've been tamed enough that it didn't take much to catch them.... But the latch for my cage door is missing now, and I'm constantly checking on the cage. GRR! I'm pissed...

    BBQ rabbit n sausage gravy

I had a bunch of BBQ rabbit and sausage links leftover, so decided to make a gravy. So! One leftover rabbit, grilled and a half dozen leftover sausage links, chunked up. Deboned the rabbit and put all the meat in a pan. Add a cup or so of water. Simmer until hot. Add some garlic salt and pepper...

Here's a bit: first page, 'all of our' is mispelt 'all of or' Rabbit's should be rabbits (the 's means rabbit is, no apostrophe means multiple) This paragraph is bugging me: We are set up in North Eastern Tennessee, near the University of Tenessee at Martin. We are set up with a small group...

How do you mark your babies?

We may or may not have stolen some markers from the hospital that they use for surgery. Lasts a few weeks, non toxic, and really easy to just grab a few...

    Watering

I use a big 3 gallon chicken waterer in summer, and a couple of crocks with hot water 2x a day in winter. But we hit -40 in January/February pretty reliably.

    Done with fleas!

Used to have an issue with fleas with the cats and dog. My solution? Ripped all the carpet out of the house except for my son's bedroom. No more fleas!

Exactly. You're one of the most lol! To me it sounded like Star Wars meets the minions in a duel of who's more annoying. The pew-pew squawk half talking ick sounds...

__________ Mon Aug 14, 2017 10:17 pm __________

https://youtu.be/233e_9DQe5M Thats my blue and gold...

    Birds? Scratch that... Pigeons?!

I've had parrots. From parrotlets to a 35 year old blue and gold. I finally found a great home for my last bird. They are a LOT of work, a LOT of mess, a LOT of sound. The ones with the least sounds are parrotlets and love birds. But if you hate noise, I wouldn't get either of those. Check...

    Aquisition: Rex

I'm just adding that pee stains on a white bunny aren't necessarily from bad care. My REW looks like that, constantly. Its because she's on a solid floor, and loves to dig in the litter. The litter is brown colored, and she's a stinker! I totally agree with the others on what they say though...

Best breed for children under 6?

I have bunnies and kids. The kids learned quickly that rabbits are not to be picked up, only pet. They scratch a LOT just like everyone else has said. IF your kids can understand that sorta, I'd get a big bun. Even a cross bred mutt. The size will be a bit intimidating for the kids to pick...
