    Food digging

I used a piece of cage wire affixed to the top of the bowl just wide enough for the bunny to feed. You can tie it down whichever way works. Cut a hole in the wire to allow the bunny to reach the food but narrow enough to prevent digging. Try 2" x 3" first. If still a problem, I would try 2" x 2"...

Who is selling meat rabbits like NZW?

Hi everyone. Looking for rabbits to buy. Thought of Florida first because state is closest to me but I am willing to travel to other states. Starting up a small commercial operation so I want efficient meat stock. Cals will do too or similar white fur efficient breeders. I am building the...

Barn Ideas for over 100 New Zealands

Look at Grumpy's setup and the Cross Roads' Rabbitry setup (site was taken offline so use the Wayback Machine for browsing old pages). Cross Roads and Grumpy provided me with most of the info I got for setting up my rabbitry. And then the other Rabbit Talk guys and gals. And purchase a good...

Do you cull or sell additional rabbits?

I would have a moral issue representing my stock as top quality if they are not good enough for me to keep. If you are culling them because they aren't good enough, then being honest with the buyer won't bother you. If they are good enough to be your competition and you don't want to add to the...

    Buck not interested in breeding??

Careful about leaving them unattended for long. I have a family friend who lost his buck's genitals to an annoyed doe who was left overnight in the cage. Yours is four months old (May to September). Sometimes they don't kick in until a little older.

    Enrichment in cages

Not seeing where you are but I sometimes use dried coconut husks. They like gnawing and flipping it. Also see them doing it with cardboard (the brown, corrugated type). Another member here use small coconuts that fall off the tree.

New here with so many questions

Rabbits should not be placed in direct sunlight in hot locations/weather. I have raised sisters together who only started fighting once they reached adulthood so be careful to watch for bloody ears, missing hair etc. since they won't always fight around you. The rabbits can chew through chicken...

    Best, Cleanest, Fastest Dispatch?

I use a piece of 1" x 3" lumber about 2 feet long and place a swift hit between the ears from above while they are calm on a table or the ground makes the process quick and cheap.

What do you do about fines in feed?

I use the FineX feeder (not FineX2) and never have to empty the fines because they don't accumulate. As someone else said, got any birds? I had goats and they liked the fines that fell to the floor. They also would attack the feeders but that is another story.

    breeding questions

I actually brought the buck home and placed him in a separate cage for a couple of days then placed her in the cage with him. I did not want to stress her then place her in a cage after traveling under stress with a buck.
