So this is my final decision; I will start foraging again and buy some alfalfa pellets. There is no rabbit pellets in my country but alfalfa and trifolium pellets are very common.
Actually no time for foraging but I have to. Foraging was so relaxing for me after all.
Thank you for necropsy suggestions, this was what I was looking for.
I've been foraging for myself for many years, this was one of the reasons that I started to raise rabbits. I know almost all plants in my area and I fed my rabbits merely on plants that I foraged for at least 6 months. Not...
I give them literally zero hay. The closest hay seller is miles away up in the villages and I have no place to store them. So instead of hay, I gave them cabbages, lettuce, parsley etc. Can this greens replace hay?
I didn't have any issues when I used to forage, they looked much more energetic...
Today I checked the chards that I fed during the last week closely, the fibers of the chard's stems and midribs are very interesting. They were just like hemp fibers, very strong, just like strong rope. I know this is not normal for an average chard but fibers of this specific chard variety look...
Unfortunately I have to keep on greengrocers from now on, feeding from nature is really fun for me and a great feast for rabbits but I have no time for foraging nowadays.
If the problem is insecticides I can partially solve this. Maybe washing all the greens for 30 rabbits is impossible for me...
I remove all the leftovers and give them fresh greens twice a day. Temperature is always between 60-80 F because they are indoors. No frost or no hot air at all.
I had 5 deaths within the last 3 months, all of them was 1-3 months of babies and no adults. (out of total 30 rabbits) They were all dead lying on their one sides and the other babies were mounted on the corpse. (I don't know why) There were no visible cause of death. Also all rabbits look...
I'll try paper towel, it took too much time for me to clean clogged blood in the neck. I was also too late to cut the head because of the blunt knife which was probably the main reason of the clogged blood.
Thank you, I'm OK. I live in the northeast, far from the earthquake zone. I stopped watching earthquake news, the footages are so sad.
I can't take the rabbit to her new home today, roads are closed because of the snow. The outside is just like a scene from the novels of Jack London, all snow...
She will probably give birth 3-4 days later and I'm considering to give her to a young guy who really wants to start a rabbit hutch. If I don't, the number of the rabbits that I have will rise to 30+ and it is beyond my capacity. The guy already have chickens and an empty hutch for my rabbit...
Old babies will want to stay in the nest with the new ones right? In that case I'll have to use bigger nest and bigger nest means the doe will urinate in it (I know, she did it before).
They are 30 days old now and will be 38 days old when the new babies are born.
I have no idea what the...
22 days ago I forget to close the door of the buck for just 5-10 minutes and when I come back I find him in the next cage which belongs to a doe that newly gave birth to 7 babies. I wrote down the date and today I saw the first behavioral signs of pregnancy, she is acting like pregnant. I know...
It is no different than a fireplace, smoke goes up and out through pipes. I've been using it for years. About 7-8 years ago I added fireplace glass on it and put firestones in it. It is about 5 ft. wide. I use it as a woodstove when I'm not grilling. I put huge logs and burn them slowly, it...
