this little guy had quite the story. First off he's NOT a domestic rabbit! he's a cottontail. a man came by my place and said that his dog brought him a 5 day old cottontail kit and he wanted to know how to feed it. So I told him how and he left.

He was about a year old when I got him and then he lasted another 2 years. I guess cottontails don't have a long lifespan?

Wikipedia mentions lifespan, but it seems likely that a captive cottontail would feel greater stress than an ordinary domestic rabbit, and less adapted to the disease pathogens our rabbits are resistant to.
