I think your super lucky to have Australorp and Buff Orpington pullets. My own hens are super docile, get along in a lovely way, and lay me big brown eggs almost one/day/bird...and have kept it up for a few years now.
One of my buffs is a broody and just hatched me a few more babies...basically, I love those breeds, absolutely no complaints!
