So I want to try tanning my rabbit skins for the first time. I keep reading that the temperature plays a part in the tanning process. But every time I read it they are referring to tanning with alum I am going to try tanning with battery acid because its easier to come by. Has any one tried this? Does temperature play a factor? Its been between 15 and 30 degrees here. However, i would be doing it in my insulated but not heated garage. So it should be slightly above freezing in there.

It's still an acid, so I'm going with yea, it'll still slow things down.
You can always just buy an aquarium heater and stick it in there if you really cannot wait.
