I posted this in Kindling category last night but wanted to see if I could get some responses sooner posting it here. Sorry if that's not ok. I can delete one! Just want some opinions.

I just had my rex doe kindle her first litter with us. She has been with us almost a year and that was the first time we bred her. I believe her previous owner bred her, but I am not sure.. so it's possible this is her first litter but if not, its her first in a long time.

She kindled this morning and had 4 kits. No DOA. When we looked at the babies this afternoon, we noticed this big sore on the baby's head. The rest are all healthy as far as I can tell.

I can't quite tell what it is. Is it a wound or a birth defect.. or what?

Could the doe have maybe overcleaned it? :x
I've seen people post about does overcleaning their kits resulting in missing ears, so I'm thinking maybe that's what happened here? Is the kit still active and feeding? I'd give it a chance to heal, if it's otherwise thriving... but I'm also basing this opinion entirely off of other people's posts.

Hopefully some of the more experienced members pop in to answer your question, too.

Thats my first thought, is that maybe she overcleaed it. Just watch it and see what it does. It shouldnt get worse...

OK thanks guys! That's what I was hoping to hear. He seems to be doing fine so I will just keep an eye on him.

It was just so shocking to see such a huge scab on a brand new baby!
