I've bred the rabbits for the second time, and this time I just can't keep up with filling the bottles. Since I have more kits this time too, it's going to take more cages, and more bottles when I separate them. So I finally got around to a watering system.

1 five gallon bucket, a bunch of vinyl tubing, and this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CF6 ... UTF8&psc=1

The watering nipples look like this:

I tried installing them the way that picture shows in the front, with the part that sticks out on the bottom, and they can't seem to figure it out. Today (after their water bottles ran out) I tried to show them the water, they got all excited, but no luck getting it out themselves. One of the moms was basically swallowing the whole watering nipple and still not seeming to have any luck. So I flipped them around, figured maybe they need to be able to lick the little valve thing, and that would make it easier, same deal, they aren't having any luck. If I touch it with my finger water is coming out just fine, it takes almost no pressure to get water out. So I gave them their bottles back for now, any ideas? Do I need a different style watering nipple? Which one?

Try wedging a small piece of wooden match stick
into the valve creating a slight leak so that they will realize
where the water is coming from. I have heard stories of
problems with rabbits drinking from anything they have
not been used to. i use water bottles, because I like to know
exactly if and how much my Rabbits are drinking.
I hope you eventually solve your problem.

Yeah, I did them that way and upside down from that... Hopefully they will get the hang of it soon.

I don't understand why no one makes watering tips that work like the water bottles do, for rabbits used to the bottles... maybe it's too much water pressure for that kind of tip?

Just stick your finger in there start the flow and the bunnies should get the idea quick it's what we do with the Lexit water bottle for our little bunnies. The tip on this bottle is similar to the nipples. You can see the tip at the link below.
