Smokey's gone.

Post Number:#1  Unread postby trinityoaks » Thu Feb 18, 2010 9:37 pm

We fought long and hard, but our Brazilian buck, Smokey, went to rabbit heaven a little bit ago. DS13 is taking it very hard. Even DH is in tears. :cry_baby:

He had been responding well to the antibiotic treatment, but took a turn for the worse yesterday. He seemed to be coming around today, eating and drinking, although resting a lot, but about 30 minutes ago he started convulsing, and we lost him after about fifteen minutes.

Smokey was a tough, brave rabbit, and we learned so much from him. Rest in peace, Smokey.

I'm so sorry! Especially for the sake of your son! Our daughter is 13 as well, and she would be just torn all to pieces if something happened to Thumper.

Ah, sad news, Smokey certainly looked like an amazing rabbit. Hugs to your and your DS13.

I'm so sorry :( Smokey was certainly a lucky bunny to have a family that he could love and who would love him back. Sometimes, the bestyou can do just isn't enough. <<<hugs>>>

Was Smokey the one who was paralyzed at one point? So sorry you lost him!

Yes, he was. We thought we had lost him then, but he pulled through, thanks to y'all and several folks on HT. We learned so much about rabbits from him.

Thank you for all the kind words. We just finished burying Smokey, in view of his bunny buddies, where he can watch the sun rise. Come spring, we'll plant roses around him (it was planned to be a rose bed, anyway).
