Hello From Michigan!
Just wanted to drop in and say Hello. Glad I found the forums here. I have a small rabbitry centered around meat rabbits. The side benefit is all the lovely manure to drop on and in the gardens, as I've found this stuff is worth it's weight in gold
I don't know anybody else who can complain that their hobby costs them 150 pounds of feed a week plus all the veg scraps and forage we find :hide Then again I do, but he's farming pigs!

Hello, Boyd and welcome to RabbitTalk!
You have a "small" rabbitry but use 150 pounds of feed a week??? How "small" is it?

LOL, Boyd! That's a fairly large "small" rabbitry. What breeds do you raise?

Californians and Silver fox. I have one batch growing out that is a cross of the two... but other than that pretty much straight Cals. I am hoping to be able to plant a couple acres of alfalfa next spring and tractor all my grow outs in a bottomless pen that I move daily. I know this is slower to grow them out but I think they taste better

Goal is for our family to replace all the meat and poultry in our diet with rabbit, and have enough meat left over to make Jerky into. My kids can eat

Grow outs

Alright, I was wrong

I must admit though... I got the KMH and MPH mixed up my first trip through Ontario cuz I wasn't paying attention. I was going 75 mph which was about 120KPH as I was told while he was writing my ticket....

Ladysown, I definitely will let you know next time I travel that a way! I haven't been across the boarder since they told us we need our passport, and I've never had one before..

Re: Hello From Michigan!
Boyd,
Your setup is what I dream of doing with mine. I've only been into rabbits for a couple of months, but I know that if I wasn't a city-dweller, with limited land to work off of, my setup would resemble yours.
Congrats on striving to be self-sufficient.
