You are actually thinking about the Pileated Woodpecker. The Red headed woodpecker is smaller, rounder--smaller than Pileated, larger than Downy...

It's fun to watch them at a suet feeder. In some parts of the US it's time to take them down but I guess in your part of the world they can still use the help.

Plenty of winter weather still to come here, Hoodat! Tomorrow is Groundhog Day which is halfway to calendar spring, but we we not usually get spring weather until April. This winter, so far, has been exceptionally mild overall, but who knows what February and March will bring!

Well, the suet feeder was well received. :) This female downy is the first to find it, with the possible help of some chickadees who are also enjoying it.
