That's a lot of information to request in one post!

I suggest you start by browsing the forums, and asking specific questions on the topics as you research them. ;)

Check out this link:

http://www.arba.net

You will find most of what you need somewhere on that site. Congrats on the new rabbits!

Buy a good general rabbit care book, such as Bob Bennett's Storey's Guide to Raising Rabbits or Ann Kanable's Raising Rabbits. That will give you the basics arranged in a logical, easy to digest form.

In the meantime, read all you can on this forum and others like it. There can be quite a steep learning curve with rabbits and it would have been a good idea to do at least some research before buying the rabbits. But we'll halp all we can on specific questions.

You do not ever need to register your rabbits if you don't go for GC(grand champion) or want registered rabbits. It can make them worth more especially if you have several generations because each generation from registered rabbits that you register gets a different mark on the pedigree. Usually it's only done if a rabbit has won enough to go for a GC or if you have a rabbit you know already is worth a lot and want to make it worth more.

Most of the time rabbit info is just maintained as pedigrees in your own records. The ARBA and no one else keeps track of which rabbits are from what except the few that register. Majority of the time you will get a pedigree and give a pedigree that only the breeder has kept track of. Faked pedigrees do happen.

They do need a tattoo to show and most prefer if you sell them with a tattoo already that matches the pedigree. It's not all that expensive to buy or hard to do. I got a used set for like $30 that has 2 sets of numbers and letters. You can also often get the registrar at the show to tattoo some rabbits for you or call up a registrar, judge, or any major breeder in your area and see if they'd come out to do your whole herd for a fee.
